Unmasking Lady Helen: Kinsey Family #1 Maggi Andersen @maggiandersen #RLFblog #RegencyRomance
Maggi Andersen author of Unmasking Lady Helen – The Kinsey Family Book One answers five easy questions.
Please tell us about yourself.
Maggi Andersen fell in love with the Georgian and Regency worlds while reading the books of Georgette Heyer. After studying for a BA and an MA in Creative Writing, she decided to write her own. She has written over 25 novels and novellas and is working on her third Regency series. Maggi also writes historical mysteries, contemporary romantic suspense, and two young adult novels. Her books are constant bestsellers on Amazon and many have been nominated for awards. Maggi’s free time is spent feeding the local wildlife, reading, gym, movies, and BBC2. She lives in the beautiful Southern Highlands of Australia.
What’s your favorite down-home family style meal?
Roast lamb with mint sauce, broccoli, pumpkin, and baked potatoes. Apple pie and cream.
Who is your “book boyfriend” (that hottie you read about and drool over)?
I’m presently reading Jack Reacher novels by Lee Child. Reacher is a ruthless killer, but with a sense of honor. He coolly works through any problems he faces, and at 6 ft 5 and two-fifty pounds with a 50″ chest, and ‘assassin’s blue eyes’, he’s definitely hot. If I was ever in danger, I’d want him around. I’m considering basing a Regency hero on him. I think he’d make a very good one.
Describe the perfect vacation.
A villa in the south of France, enjoying the local wines and food. Swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. Popping over to Cannes for the film festival.
When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?.
Romantic suspense, and mysteries, either historical or contemporary.
What kinds of things do you read when you’re researching a new book?
My research tends to wander from the language of flowers to a recipe for casseroled grouse. Terrible time waster. I’m writing a contemporary romantic suspense so I’m researching hand guns. One that fits in a lady’s handbag. For my Regency series, anything about spies, the Prince of Wales, his court, customs, fashions, food and architecture, plus the Napoleonic era. I have some wonderful books with glossy pictures of English estates and gardens.
Please tell us about your latest book.

1821 London
At twenty-four, Lady Helen Kinsey has her future carefully mapped out. A life of gentle quietude in the country caring for her unmarried brothers and walking with her dog. It does not include marriage, a dream she banished after her first Season. But when a handsome earl enters Kinsey House in London on a mission to find out why their footman was poisoned, she finds herself drawn into solving the mystery. And despite resistance on her part worthy of an army maneuver, she is irresistibly drawn to the earl himself. After Whitehall receives a letter warning of a plot against the Crown, Jason, Captain Lord Peyton, is sent to investigate. Surely the famous explorer, Lord Lawrence Kinsey could not be behind it. He is engrossed in roaming ancient libraries and tombs in the East and bringing back their treasures for the museum. But after Peyton finds a fragment of a burned letter it appears that something dangerous lurks in Kinsey House, and Peyton becomes determined to keep the defenseless family safe, and one member particularly. Lady Helen has built a wall around herself and holds him at arm’s length. But arm’s length is not where Peyton wants to be.
As the mystery unfolds it becomes imperative for Peyton and Lady Helen to work together, very closely indeed.

Eve Dangerfield of Degrees of Control @Eve_Dangerfield #RLFblog #contemporary
Eve Dangerfield of Degrees of Control answers five easy questions
to help readers get to know her better. What’s your favorite down-home
family style meal? My mother’s Italian and
on special occasions she makes hand rolled gnocchi which we serve with homemade
sauce, fresh bread, red wine and braised pork ribs. It’s basically the best
meal ever. Just typing that has made me unbearably hungry.Who is your “book
boyfriend” (that hottie you read about and drool over)?Any of Cara McKenna’s blue
collar heroes majorly get my blood pumping but I have a huge soft spot for
Flynn. He’s a boxer from one of her early novels Willing Victim. Even though I
think I would annoy him in real life (he’s very stoic, I’m very ‘court
jester-y’) I would do bad things to spend a long weekend in his bed.Describe the perfect vacation.A complete replication of the
trip to Europe I took with my boyfriend when I was 22. We spent our days in
museums and art galleries and cafes, eating cheese plates and drinking wine and
we spent our night dancing and drinking cocktails and making love. It was the
kind of vacation where there’s so much beauty and pleasure in hindsight the
whole thing feels like a dream.Tell us about your
favorite toy as a child.A rocking horse called Dandy.
He was furry and had huge red button eyes than in hindsight were super creepy.
When I was too big to ride him my mum and dad gave him to my little brother.
Unfortunately his unblinking gaze gave Tom nightmares so off to the tip Dandy
went. I like to think he’s still out there, riding a big wave of garbage,
waiting for me to reclaim him. When you read for pleasure,
what kind of books do you choose?Romance and erotica. I
started reading them when I finished an English literature course and needed a
break from Medea and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (urgh) and I never looked
back. A cup of tea and good romance is my favorite way to spend a weeknight and
I find all the subgenres fascinating. If I want to read something chill and I’m
not in the mood for romance I just go through Harry Potter again. I’ve read
twelve times and it’s always, always amazing. I feel for people who lived and
died without reading Harry Potter.About the Book
