Defending the Duke (The St Clairs Book 4) by Alexa Aston

    Genre: Regency romance

    Book heat level: PG-13

Can love grow between a reluctant duke and an illegitimate shop girl?

Anthony Godwin, trusted staff officer to the Duke of Wellington, returns from the Napoleonic Wars to learn both his father and brother are dead and he is the new Duke of Linfield. His anger and bitterness have grown through the years and he despises the Linfield name—because his father gave Anthony away when he was eight years old. Now he finds himself a part of the ton, with men seeking his advice and women vying to become his new duchess, all because of a title he now holds and never wanted.

Laurel Wright grew up in poverty. When her mother dies, Laurel learns she and her twin brother are the illegitimate offspring of the deceased Duke of Everton. Penniless and starving, she turns to the new Duke of Everton in desperation. Suddenly, Laurel is swept into a glittering, unfamiliar world as she is launched into the Season. Navigating her way proves daunting and when she is discovered in a compromising position with a man she’s only met, it leads to a quick marriage in which both partners agree that love will never be a part of their relationship.

Anthony never wanted a wife and is abruptly saddled with one. He tries to keep his distance from the raven-haired beauty who is now his duchess, but Laurel proves to be irresistible. Passion erupts between them and he finds himself longing for a child, though he fights growing closer to this new wife.

Will Laurel and Anthony be able to put the past behind them—and let love rule their future?

Each book in The St Clairs Trilogy is a standalone story that can be enjoyed out of order.
    Series Order:
Book #1 Devoted to the Duke
Book #2 Midnight with the Marquess
    Book #3 Embracing the Earl
    Book #4 Defending the Duke
Book #5 Suddenly a St Clair (Coming December 3!)

Why did you write this book?

I had published my St Clairs trilogy (Devoted to the Duke, Midnight with the Marquess, and Embracing the Earl) earlier this year. Readers really took to this family and my publisher, Kathryn Le Veque, asked that I extend the series—thus, Laurel and Hudson St Clair get their own HEAs!

What is your favorite genre to read?

I read just about anything—romance, mystery, biography, cereal boxes.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

I always come back to Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice.

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m working on a medieval trilogy, Medieval Runaway Wives. It will come out Summer 2020.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

I’m very excited about my new Regency trilogy coming in February, March, and April. Look for Soldiers and Soulmates then.

New series: Thea, De Wolfes of Esterley Castle by Alexa Aston @AlexaAston #RLFblog #NewRelease #RegencyRomance

New series: Thea, De Wolfes of Esterley Castle by Alexa Aston @AlexaAston #RLFblog #NewRelease #RegencyRomance Alexa Aston, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Thea (The de Wolfes of Esterley Castle Book 3) by Alexa Aston

    Genre: Regency romance

    Book heat level: PG13

He’s a virgin who almost died at Waterloo… and now finds himself a duke.

She’s been told that kissing is important and if she likes a man and has the opportunity… she should take it.

Lady Thea de Wolfe breaks her leg, causing her to miss her first London Season, one in which her sister, Diana, becomes the Countess of Merrifield and Thea’s best friend, Amelia, weds Thea’s brother, Lord Reston. Seeing those closest to her find love has led Thea to dare to dream of the possibility of love coming to her.

Major Adam Ashbury arrives home from war to discover his cousin recently died in a phaeton accident, making Adam the new Marquess of Trumbull. Before he can get used to having a title, his uncle dies and the former military man finds himself woefully unprepared to be the Duke of Durham. Adam can’t even dance–but he longs to find a duchess and create a new life for himself, one in which family and love play equally important roles.

A funeral first brings Adam and Thea together, followed soon by a house party, where their growing attraction finds fertile ground to blossom. Though other single women vie for new duke’s attention and Thea’s guardian is determined to keep her from kissing anyone before she makes her come-out, true love runs its natural course for the pair.

Thea is Book 3 in The de Wolfes of Esterley Castle and a part of the De Wolfe Pack Connected World. It can be read as a standalone. Only 99 cents!

*Look for Diana and Derek, the romances for Thea’s siblings, which also read as standalones.

Why did you write this book?

I had been asked to write in Kathryn Le Veque’s de Wolfe Connected World and decided to do three novellas that told the stories of three de Wolfe siblings during the Regency Era. Diana was released in July. She won the heart of Lord Oliver Merrifield, a dashing, delightful man who’d won my heart (and readers)–but he hadn’t gotten an HEA of his own. Derek released in August and was the next de Wolfe to find his soulmate. Now, it’s Thea’s turn to find a dashing duke and lasting happiness.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I enjoy reading thrillers most of all, but I recently enjoyed reading Lost Roses for my monthly book club. It focuses on the lives of three women during World War I. As a former history teacher, I gobble up anything historical!

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

A character who always continues to move me is Atticus Finch.

What are you working on at the moment?

I’ve just finished up Books 4 and 5 for my St. Clairs series. Defending the Duke releases October 8 and Suddenly a St. Clair comes out December 3. That will wrap up this Regency romance series.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Defending the Duke and Suddenly a St. Clair are the last two novels I’m publishing in 2019; however, I have a Christmas novella featuring Luke and Caroline St. Clair in the upcoming collection Stars are Shining Brightly. It features ten Dragonblade Publishing authors and can be preordered now for 99 cents. https://amzn.to/2k00tpY

It Starts With A Kiss by JL Peridot @jlperidot #RLFblog #NewRelease #SciFi #RomanceJL Peridot, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

It Starts With A Kiss by JL Peridot

    Genre Retrofuturistic sci-fi office romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Celeste is a talented engineer who doesn’t realize her job’s going nowhere fast. She’s a little naïve. She’ll cut code and solder cables forever as long as Owen’s around. Owen, on the other hand, knows exactly how badly things suck–he just doesn’t care. Sure, his skills aren’t what they used to be, but they’re still better than what Halcyon Aries deserves.

Then it happens. The company’s toxic management team finally cross the line. As both techies race to upgrade the station and to free the team from their oppressive contracts, they come to learn that life–and love–can only ever be what you make it.

Why did you write this book?

Initially, I just wanted to write a feel-good office romance set in the same universe as my previous novellas, Chasing Sisyphus and “Question”. But as I wrote, I found I had a lot of material (aka. “feelings”) locked up inside me. The Eleanor parts, the management parts and, heck, Celeste’s entire personal journey as the story unfolds were all fed by the years I’d spent in a technical and corporate environment.

When life gets frustrating or confusing, reading fiction helps me feel less alone. A great, relatable book gives me perspective and suggests how I could deal with stuff. This book is for the talented, professional, undermined women out there. Like Celeste, they could achieve just about everything they want to with just a little more self belief.

    I see you, my lovelies.

What is your favorite genre to read?

Science fiction, but to be honest, I’ll read just about anything with a good story or interesting writing style. One of my all-time favourite books, War Boy by Kief Hillsbery, isn’t even close to the bookstore shelves I gravitate toward, but the story and writing just blew me away.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

Lucasinho Corta from Ian McDonald’s Luna series. I adore his style, adore the style the author uses in his scenes. He embodies sex, hubris, sincerity and possibility. How can you not fall in love with that?

What are you working on at the moment?

I’m experimenting with storytelling in other mediums. It’s too early to talk about yet, but once the real work begins, I expect to vent my frustrations quite liberally on twitter :o)

What books will we see from you in coming months?

The rest of The Basilica Conspiracy and a few shorter erotic and romantic pieces.

Dark Chocolate and Strawberries by Daryl Devore

Genre – Twisted Fairy Tale Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

What’s a naughty fairy tale like Red Riding Hood without Red, the huntsman, grandma and especially, the big bad wolf?

Esmerelda ‘Red’ Hood is summoned to her mother’s executive suite only to learn her sweet granny is headed for a romantic cruise with a gigolo. Horrified, Red races off to save her grandma before it’s too late.

On board, Red meets Andrew Woodsman and Willem Olf. One a cutie with the biggest puppy eyes and the other a dark, sophisticated predator. Her grandmother’s warning rings in Red’s ear “Never trust a wolf in sheep’s clothing.”

Even with the warning, Red has trouble choosing which man could be the big bad wolf and which could be her happily ever after.

Note: This book was previously published by New Dawning Bookfair under the title Sexy Red Hood.

What’s your favorite hashtag to watch on Twitter?

#WritingCommunity. I’ve met a lot of interesting and fun authors. It’s great to discover I am not alone in the troubles of the writing life.

    Describe the perfect vacation.

Anything by the beach. My motto is Sun, Sea and Sand. I could spend days just sitting staring out at the water. It is a Zen thing. I find it very grounding. My mind goes quiet and I feel at total peace. I used this concept in a book when my hero was severely depressed he sought out the beach to help him recover.

    What are your hobbies?

I love to bake and cook and attached to that would be watch cooking shows, like the Great British Bakeoff. Yoga. I do as many classes as I can fit in a week. Raqs Sharqi. It is the traditional style of belly dance. And in the summer, I garden. I have large flower beds – which constantly need weeding. Also, a vegetable patch, but I see, to be feeding the local wildlife more than my family

When you read for pleasure, what kind of books do you choose?

Old British mysteries – Agatha Christie, Dorothy L Sayers, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. When asked who is my favourite, I am torn between Christie and Sayers. The characters and settings pull you deep into the story.

What kinds of things do you read when you’re researching a new book?

Since some of my books are super-hot, I’ve visited some very “interesting” websites. For my next book, a medieval romance, I’ve spent a lot of time researching dragons, dragon lore, life of a peasant, royal life, medieval castles and a touch of research about fantasy.

Return of Dancer of the Nile (The Gods of Egypt) by Veronica Scott @vscotttheauthor #RLFblog #NewRelease #AncientWorldRomance

Return of Dancer of the Nile (The Gods of Egypt) by Veronica Scott @vscotttheauthor #RLFblog #NewRelease #AncientWorldRomanceVeronica Scott, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Return of Dancer of the Nile (The Gods of Egypt) by Veronica Scott

    Genre Ancient World Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

    1550BCE

Nima, formerly a tavern dancer in the land of the Nile, has settled into the leisurely life of her dreams as the pampered, beloved wife to a high ranking general who’s also a member of Pharaoh’s court. She’s sworn never to dance for anyone else but Kamin, the man she loves. All is fine until one day news arrives that her husband has been killed in a chariot accident while on a trip to a remote city on Pharaoh’s behalf.

But as a reward for their previous service to Egypt against a dangerous enemy, the gods had promised Nima and Kamin they’d die at the same moment…so if she still lives, so must he.

Why is the ruler of the city lying to Pharaoh about Kamin’s death? What is the woman covering up? And where is Kamin?

Time for Nima the elegant lady to vanish from Thebes and Nima the skilled dancer to make her way in disguise to the far distant province and fight for Kamin’s life. She’ll have to deal with angry gods, black magic, an enemy prince and a deadly ghost along the way.

Nima is the only one who can rescue her beloved from the dark fate planned for him by Egypt’s enemies…

Standalone sequel to Dancer of the Nile.

Why did you write this book?

I’ve always been fascinated by ancient Egypt and this is my tenth novel set there. I love the challenge of telling a good story, with the gods taking an active role in the events. Mixing romance and adventure with the details of life along the Nile thousands of years ago is a challenge I relish. I was excited to return to Nima the dancer and Kamin the soldier, who both first appeared in Dancer of the Nile and tell more of their ongoing story. This is a standalone book but there are mild spoilers for the first book. And I relish the opportunity to put all my historical research to work and create an environment where readers feel at home in ancient Egypt, but keeping it relatable to the modern audience.

What is your favorite genre to read?

Science fiction romance is my first love, filling my e-reader (and what I write primarily), but I also read paranormal, fantasy, urban fantasy, thrillers and Regency romance.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

Going by what I reread the most, Judd Lauren in Nalini Singh’s Caressed by Ice. He was the template for all her lethal Arrow soldiers who fall in love and they’re my favorite characters in her Psy/Changeling series. She makes me feel like I want to be the woman to melt that ice! I’m also always impressed by Frederica in the Regency romance novel of the same name by Georgette Heyer.

What are you working on at the moment?

Currently I’m writing a holiday novella set in my fantasy romance world of Cladddare and having fun with it. After that I’ll be writing the next book in my scifi romance Badari Warriors series about genetically engineered soldiers of the far future.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

In October the fourth annual Pets In Space® anthology releases and I have a full length scifi romance Star Cruise novel in the collection, all new. The fantasy holiday novella I mentioned should be out in November and hopefully the next Badari Warriors will be released in December. We’ll see how I do on that schedule!

Sweet Love, Bitter Fruit by Lyndell Williams @laylawriteslove #RLFblog #NewRelease #urbanromanceLyndell Williams, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Sweet Love, Bitter Fruit by Lyndell Williams

    Genre romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

From Lyndell Williams, author of My Way to You, a new novel about keeping the flames of love and passion burning in a world determined to snuff them out.

Harlem lawyer Marcus Kent fights for justice while preserving a stable, passionate marriage with wife, Toni. Smart and confident, he has it all together—that is until his world turns upside down.

Not only is someone stalking his sister, but an intern at work is also getting too close for comfort.

On top of all of that, Toni’s renewed infertility obsession causes them to continually argue, adding more strain and cooling off their steamy union.

Struggling with insecurities and yearning to have a child, successful psychologist Toni Kent looks to her husband for support. Unfortunately, relentless distraction and stubbornness prevent Marcus from being there when she needs him the most and jeopardizes their happy home.

After multiple failed in vitro attempts, Toni is ready to try again, but Marcus is done. He doesn’t want another headache or more heartache. Will infertility tear this dream couple apart?

Why did you write this book?

I am a huge proponent of using fiction as social commentary. Novels can reflect and influence society, and many readers seek to connect to realistic characters with problems and issues reflecting the human condition. I wrote Sweet Love, Bitter Fruit to highlight how strong love is not invincible. There are times and situations that will test the strongest bond. Toni and Marcus have it all—fabulous careers, awesome Harlem apartment and the respect of their family and community—but they have to endure the trials of infertility. They are usually simpatico, but when Toni wants to go through more in vitro treatments after agreeing to give up, it threatens their love.

What is your favorite genre to read?

Romance, romance, and more romance. The genre offers the chance for authors to show the ways characters navigate and negotiate a foundational human emotion. Romance can be diverse, influenced by readers and the broader culture. It is truly a misunderstood genre that deserves more respect than it gets in the literary world. Love elements exist across genres, so romance is a foundational part of literature.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

    I don’t have one.

What are you working on at the moment?

I am finishing up Building on Broken Dreams, book three in the Brothers in Law series. Adam Kane is a European American Muslim convert. A native Bostonian from a wealthy family, he turned away from a life of luxury and privilege. He concentrates on living simply and his faith when he meets Maryam Avery, an African American Muslim woman and pursues her.

I am also writing three novellas for the Open to Love series. The three stories feature three Muslim women: Hafsah, Tarika and Rahma. Each of them struggles to allow love to enter their lives and keep it there.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

I plan on releasing each novella in the Open to Love series over the coming months, after the release of Sweet Love Bitter Fruit. Then there is book three in the Brothers in Law series, Building on Broken Dreams.
