Know the Heroine from A Question of Trust by Mona Karel @MonaKarel #RLFblog #RomanticSuspenseMona Karel, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your heroine, but first, tell us about the book.

A Question of Trust by Mona Karel

    Genre Romantic Suspense
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13
Lana Greene doesn’t care that most of the world sees her as avaricious and amoral. All the better for her to stand as a shield against those who would exploit the weaker. Until the day she comes up against a situation too difficult, too dangerous, for her to handle on her own, and she has to reach out to her ex-husband.
Adam Roberts dedicated himself to keeping the world safe until his efforts took part of a leg and much of his self worth. When Ty Randolph asks him to take on a simple escort he’s more than willing to help out his new friends.
But there is far more at stake than anyone realizes. Lana and Adam have to learn to trust themselves and each other to succeed in saving many innocent lives.

Know the Heroine from A Question of Trust

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.
It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?
At one time she would have slept since her lifestyle didn’t allow her near enough sleep. Once she met Adam she was never bored.
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
Lana likes simple foods, homemade cakes, and fresh water. She’s never quite picked up the knack of baking so when she does have the opportunity she grabs the best and the freshest. Chocolate cake, cinnamon rolls…mmmmmmmmmmm
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
The real Lana prefers to wear comfortable clothes, slouchy socks, and happy shoes. Party Girl Lana, her usual persona, wears clothes just this side of indecent and shoes that make her feet weep. When most people see her in Party Girl Lana mode, they miss the bright mind constantly at work making things happen.
Does she know how to fix things?
She knows how to fix a party, how to fix the evil done by human traffickers. She’s not so good at fixing her love life but she gets there eventually.
She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
In A Question of Honor, Lana was following up on an anonymous tip about a Navajo girl in danger. The tip came from Sydney’s nasty ex, and Lana ended up in the hospital.
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
Often these children are the ones she’s trying to protect. On the outside she’s matter of fact, calm, and stays that way until the danger is past. Inside she’s weeping and screaming.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
Lana learned to wake up fast. She’s on her feet and ready to solve the world’s problems. This is before she met Adam. Now she’d just as soon stay in bed.
    Can she use chopsticks?
She’s used them, but she’s not super proficient. One time she got a splinter from a restaurant chopstick.
Does she drink coffee? If so, how does she take it? If not, what does she drink instead?
She drinks coffee if she has to but her preference is for high quality water, hot, with lemon slices.
What apps would she have on her phone?
GPS, and whatever gibberish Party Girl Lana might need to help hold her cover.
    Android or iPhone?
Whatever she has in her hand at the time. If it works, she’s good with it.
    Earrings or unpierced ears?
Pierced, though she rarely wears long earrings since they get in the way.
    Tattoos or unadorned skin?
Unadorned. Tattoos are too easy to use for ID
    Personal vehicle or public transport?
At home she has a dependable aged SUV.
    Recycle or toss?
    Recycle
Thanks for helping us get to know your heroine!

    Mona Karel Social Media

Mona Karel became convinced at an early age that her life would not really begin until she was about thirty five. She has no idea what precipitated that thought, but she claims she was a strange child. Until reaching that age, she led a peripatetic existence for many years, criss-crossing the country, working with horses and dogs—and waiting tables to support her other jobs. At thirty five, when many people are well into raising their families, Karel settled down to “real” work as a buyer and expediter. She married a high school teacher, which led to over twenty years in Southern California.
Karel can’t remember a time she wasn’t reading, though she doesn’t remember much fun with Dick and Jane. Her preferred stories involved dogs and horses, and once she had gone through every horse book in the high school library, she started in on Civil War stories. They rode horses, didn’t they? At that time Romance was swashbucklers and Gothic, and many preferred the stronger heroines of Mary Stewart and Victoria Holt. Then Karel discovered Romance in the form of Silhouette, Candlelight, and RWA, and her life was complete. Karel has since retired to New Mexico, where she lives in the wind at 6,500 feet with her Salukis. When not writing or going to dog shows, Karel works at a solar related firm.

About Your Writer: Questions for your character to answer about you.

To honor the person who chose to share your story, please answer at least four of these questions.

Why do you think your writer chose to write about you?
The writer loves baseball and is impressed with pitching, especially that her daughter was a softball pitcher since she was seven.
What do you wish your writer had not told others about you?
I would have appreciated if she didn’t show others that I’m still a mama’s boy.
Was there anything your writer discovered about you that was a surprise to one or both of you?
It was a surprise to me that I was able to handle having shoulder surgery and dealing with the outcome.
When your writer is writing about you, what do you think makes your writer the most happy? What makes your writer the most sad?
I feel the writer loves to see me happy and loves seeing me on the pitcher’s mound. Having an argument with Francine and having Francine doubt my love for her, puts a frown on my writer’s face.
Why do you think your writer loves to write?
I think she likes writing about real issues and finds writing as a way to display her underlining emotions.
What do you wish your writer would write next?
I wish she would write another story about me dealing with my family years later.
What other character from your book do you think your writer should write a book about? Care to tell us why?
I’d like to know more about Toni. She was a a corky character that I would love to know what she’s up to.
Is there anything you’d like to say to your writer?
I’d like to thank her for creating me into a good guy, who is so full of love and compassion. She choose a great friend for me in Jason. I wish her the best of luck as she continues to write and create more characters.
From Karen Cino: How did you feel about Francine keeping the secret about the restaurant basement from you?
I have to say I have never gotten so mad at Francine like that before. I was so worried, after the fact. I couldn’t believe she kept that big of a secret from me. But I didn’t let that mar our relationship. Francine and I never sent to sleep mad at one another.

Meet Vasili Zima from Drakon’s Tear by NJ Walters @njwaltersauthor #RLFblog #PNR

Meet Vasili Zima from Drakon's Tear by NJ Walters @njwaltersauthor #RLFblog #PNRLet’s meet Vasili Zima from Drakon’s Tear, a new paranormal romance novel. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here, Vasili. I’d like to get to know you better. Let’s talk.

    Drakon’s Tear by NJ Walters

    Genre Paranormal Romance/Shapeshifter
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Dying isn’t an option. I’ve survived a kidnapping, and now I’m on the run from the Knights of the Dragon who want my gift. There’s nothing a dragon loves more than treasure. I’m Abigail Owens, and I can sense gemstones. When I find myself drawn to a beautiful stone bracelet at a tiny shop in Moscow, I can’t help but have it — even though I can sense it’s power. But I didn’t realize with this one decision I’ve just put myself in the middle of a war between the Knights and a Drakon.
I guess I’m just lucky like that.
The only person I trust even a little is Vasili Zima, which is weird since I’m not sure if he wants to kill me or protect me. I’m drawn to him in a way I hadn’t thought possible, and he feels the same way, or he wouldn’t be risking his life to help me. He’s wanted by the bad guys just as much as I am, and staying with me, well, there’s a hundred percent chance I’m about to get us both killed. But I will not be going down without a fight.

(Author’s Note: This book is NOT first person point of view.)

    Introducing Vasili Zima

Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. I’d like to get to know you better. Please tell me about yourself.
Age: 4000 years, give or take a few
    Gender: male
Birthplace: I have no idea as I was born to a nomadic tribe in what is now northern Russia.
Profession: I buy and trade in artifacts
Ethnicity: I am half dragon, half human
    Species (for scifi/fantasy characters): I’m a drakon
Please provide a physical description of yourself.
In my human form, I’m 6’10” with light brown hair and pale blue eyes. I have a birthmark tattoo that covers that entire left side of my body from my neck to my ankles. It’s a swirling pattern that is blue and outlined in the same icy blue of my eyes. I also have many tattoos on the right side of my body, but I put those there on purpose.
    Tell us about yourself, please.
I live a quiet, simple life. I buy and trade artifacts, which allows me to discover anything related to drakons while making a profit. I travel, I learn, I make money. And I keep a low profile. The last thing I want to do is attract the attention of my enemies—the Knights of the Dragon.
Who is the significant other in your life?
    My Abigail.
    Are you book-smart, self-taught, widely-experienced?
All of the above. I have taught myself to speak and read many languages and am fluent in some that have long been forgotten. I’ve travelled around the world many times,
observing communities from a distance and sometimes venturing among them. People have changed little over the years. There are greedy, evil people as well as kind and generous ones in all cultures and times.
What is your viewpoint on wealth?
It is better to have it than not. If you’ve lived as long as I have and are not wealthy, then you are wasting your time and skills. Wealth is freedom and a drakon was meant to be free.
Do you care about what others assume about you?
*frowns* I am a drakon. It matters little what others think of me. *pauses*I care what Abigail thinks of me, but no one else.
Can you keep a secret? Why or why not?
Secrets are my life’s blood. I am a living, breathing secret that few believe or even know exist. I have uncovered many secrets in the course of my life and have used them to protect and benefit myself. Why would I share something that might give an adversary an advantage?
    What is your biggest need?
I would have said I had everything I needed. Then I met Abigail and I understood that she was the missing piece in my life.
What is your biggest personal flaw?
*frowns* Abigail might say I’m secretive and possessive. I see those as strengths, not flaws.

Meet Ruhger from Lightwave: Clocker by AM Scott @AM_Scottwrites #RLFblog #SciFi #SpaceOpera

Meet Ruhger from Lightwave: Clocker by AM Scott @AM_Scottwrites #RLFblog #SciFi #SpaceOperaWelcome Captain Ruhger from Lightwave: Clocker a new Space Opera series by AM Scott. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about the story your author wrote.

    Captain Ruhger of Lightwave: Clocker

    Age: 39 standard years
    Gender: Male
Birthplace: Phalanx Eagle Troop Fold Transport
Profession: Fold Transport and Shuttle Pilot
    Ethnicity: Human mixed
    Species (for scifi/fantasy characters): Human
Please tell us a little about your character.
Captain Ruhger is slightly shorter than the average male, but has extremely wide shoulders and is in extraordinary physical condition. He’s got dark brown hair and eyes, and dark-tan skin, with rather hooked nose and an almost constant glower. He was raised by his parents, officers in Phalanx Eagle, a mercenary company, and grew up as a pilot in the company. His parents mutinied after another faction took over the company and forced them to accept a horribly brutal action that resulted in Saree of Jericho becoming an orphan. His parents formed a fold transport company, but were eventually hunted down by Phalanx Eagle. Captain Ruhger was flying a separate fold transport, so he escaped. They changed the name of the transport to Lightwave and kept flying on the fringes of known space, trying to avoid notice. When they pick up Saree, she’s travelling under an alias as Scholar Cary Sessan, a student of ancient music. They have no idea who she really is.
Who is the significant other in your character’s life?
Ruhger avoids all romantic entanglements, but he’s having a hard time with his attraction to Saree of Jericho.
    How does your hero dress?
Captain Ruhger and his crew wear coverall uniforms, similar to a pilot’s flightsuit. For the formal dinners his Chef insists on hosting, the coveralls have more silver braid and other shiny stuff to make them look fancier.
Does he scrape by, live comfortably, live extravagantly?
Lightwave is always on the edge of bankruptcy. They had to buy better weapons in case of attack, so they own a lot of credits to weapons dealers. The Scholar’s long-term contract along with a couple of others, is allowing them get out of debt finally. But they’re still operating with the constant possibility of failure.
What special skills does your character rely on?
Ruhger is an expert pilot, with extraordinarily fast reaction times and excellent decision making skills. He’s also an expert in y’ga, a combination of martial arts, gymnastics and meditation.
What does he have a knack for doing?
Piloting and keeping his crew safe. He’s also a very good leader, although he doesn’t think so.
Can your hero keep a secret? If not, why not? If yes, why?
Ruhger keeps secrets very well. Lightwave is trying to avoid being found by Phalanx Eagle, so they need to keep all their identities secret if possible.
What is your character’s family like?
Since Ruhger’s blood family has been killed, and most of his crew are in the same situation, Lightwave’s crew is his family. They’re all a little dysfunctional because of the trauma. Chief Bhoher is an older man, a mechanical genius and a bit of a father figure to all of them. Grant Lowe is a charismatic sex addict. Tryon and Katryn Phazeer are the security officers; he’s the strong, silent type, but still very intelligent. Katryn is also smart, but quick-tempered. Chef Loreli is a flamboyant, creative genius, who started life a Loren, a quiet, bookworm-type who was the target of bullies. Ruhger protected him, and Loreli is in love with him now.
What is your character’s biggest need at the beginning of the story?
Ruhger is desperately trying to keep Lightwave flying, so the weapons merchants can’t repossess his ship and leave his family homeless.
What is your hero’s biggest hopes and dreams?
Ruhger wants to keep his family safe and have a little security. Deep down, he’d like to have a family, but he doesn’t think that’s realistic with his background, baggage and current profession.
If your character could make any one thing happen, what would it be?
Ruhger would like someone to destroy Phalanx Eagle, so Lightwave could travel to better markets for passengers.

About Your Writer: Questions for your character to answer about you.

To honor the person who chose to share your story, please answer at least four of these questions. Questions with more than one point should be considered one question. You may answer as many more as you like.
Why do you think your writer chose to write about you?
I think she wanted to show men can be strong and authoritative and still be compassionate and caring. She also wanted to show that emotional trauma can be overcome and people can live quietly heroic lives despite their backgrounds.
What do you wish your writer would write next?
I hope she gets me out of this mess with my family intact. Destroying Phalanx Eagle would be even better.
What other character from your book do you think your writer should write a book about? Care to tell us why?
I think she should write about some of the other passengers. She drops a lot of interesting tidbits, but there’s still a lot of questions about them.

Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your heroine, but first, tell us about the book.

Rosalyn’s Ring by Alina K Field

    Genre Regency Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
With her true inheritance lost, Rosalyn Montagu has reluctantly fallen into her elderly cousin’s tidy London life of do-gooder spinster. But when a young woman from the district of Rosalyn’s childhood is put up for auction in a wife sale, Rosalyn seizes the chance to rescue her–and to recover a family heirloom.
She braves a precarious Christmas Eve coach ride in the company of a mysterious nobleman and soon finds she’s not the only determined buyer attending the sale. Her travel companion not only succeeds in thwarting her purchase–he reveals himself as the man who took everything that should have been hers. Everything, that is, except her father’s ring, which she recovers before being tossed out of the inn into the snowy night.
The newly anointed Viscount Cathmore has accepted there is no way to avoid living his father’s dream of nobility, but he’s drawn the line at marrying a blue-blooded miss–until he meets Rosalyn, a provoking beauty with an upper crust manner, a larcenous streak, and enough secrets to rouse even his jaded heart. And when more mysteries swirl around Rosalyn’s lost inheritance, Cathmore is just the man to help her uncover the truth.

Know the Heroine from Rosalyn’s Ring

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.
It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?
She pulls out a deck of cards and plays patience, if she’s alone, or if she has someone to play with, piquet.
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
    A meat pie.

Rosalyn’s plan to rescue her maid’s cousin from being auctioned off to another man failed badly when she was outbid by a handsome stranger who, shockingly, was buying the girl for his secretary.
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
She spends part of her time helping at a children’s home, more often than not, spoiling them.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
Rosalyn is not a morning person. She’d much rather stay up late entertaining–if only she could afford to do so.
How does she handle things when in a “proper” social situation?
As the daughter of a baron, she was taught all the proper rules. Unfortunately, she doesn’t always follow them.
Maid or takes care of herself?
She has a very saucy maid.
    Proper dress or casual clothes?
Proper, but sadly, plain, due to her reduced circumstances.
    Sleeves buttoned or rolled up?
    Rolled up whenever possible.
    Powdered wig or natural hair?
One of her most distinctive features is her red hair–everyone is always remarking about it. Still, she would never cover it with powder.
    Carriage or horseback?

Award winning author Alina K Field earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and German literature, but her true passion is the much happier world of romance fiction. Though her roots are in the Midwestern U.S., after six very, very, very cold years in Chicago, she moved to Southern California and hasn’t looked back. She shares a midcentury home with her husband, her spunky, blonde, rescued terrier, and the blue-eyed cat who conned his way in for dinner one day and decided the food was too good to leave.
She is the author of several Regency romances, including the 2014 Book Buyer’s Best winner, Rosalyn’s Ring. She is hard at work on her next series of Regency romances, but loves to hear from readers!

Know the Hero from Slade by Julie Lence @julielence #RLFblog #Historical Western RomanceJulie Lence, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your hero, but first, tell us about the book.

    Slade by Julie Lence

Slade Barlow discovers hiding out at Jill’s corn farm is more rewarding than stealing from the Arizona silver mines.
    Genre Western Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13
Managing the farm since her pa’s death hasn’t been easy for Jillianne Prescott. The list of repairs is long and money is scarce. To add to her burdens is the deal Ma struck up with the sheriff. In exchange for food and a warm bed, the sheriff sends his prisoners to work the farm. Never one to bother with men, Jillianne is nonetheless thankful for the help, until, one by one, they run off. This latest one won’t be any different. Heavily muscled and full of tomfoolery, she has no doubt he’ll sneak off to Mexico before the sun rises. But when he proves her wrong, and takes it upon himself to find the coyote prowling the farm at night, Jillianne can’t help but admit there’s more to Slade than sinew and tomfoolery.
Be the guest at a necktie social or work at the widow Prescott’s farm? He might be an outlaw, and have a lot of faults, but stupidity isn’t one of them. Slade Barlow will hide out at the farm until tempers cool and then leave Texas for good, have the spread he’s been saving for. But the widow isn’t the frail woman he expected. And her daughter does things to his gut best left ignored. Then again, Jill has an intriguing birthmark. And curves his fingers itch to explore. Sassy and pretty, she’s the type of woman a man marries. Never one to favor a woman’s long list of rules, he’ll keep his distance, track down her coyote, and steal more than one kiss from her.

    Know the Hero from Slade

Here are some fun questions to help us know your hero.
It’s late, he’s bored. What does he do?
It depends on where he is. If he’s in a town, Slade is likely to find the nearest poker game and gamble until dawn. If’s he’s out in the open, he’ll make camp and lounge by the fire until he falls asleep.
What kind of food would he impulse buy if hungry?
Jerky. It’s something he can easily stuff into his pocket or saddlebags and take with him.
Describe the kind of clothes he prefers to wear.
Dark trousers, comfortable checkered shirt, his worn boots and Stetson.
Does he know how to fix things?
Slade can mend a fence line and build a porch; an old Colorado ranch hand taught him how to work with wood. But to fix something such as a cookstove or a chimney, he doesn’t have those skills.
He tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
In Arizona territory, someone stole Slade’s poker winnings. Two outlaws blamed the theft on Roth, another outlaw with a reputation just as dangerous as Slade’s. Believing his buddies, Slade tracks Roth to Revolving Point, TX and discovers that Roth is now married. To lure Roth into the open and assure the outlaw returns Slade’s money, Slade breaks into Roth’s home and uses Roth’s wife as bait… and succumbs to a gunshot wound. He’s hauled off to jail, and the only thing saving him from Roth killing him, or the governor from throwing him in Huntsville Penitentiary since Roth’s wife is his niece, is notorious outlaw turned sheriff, Buck Grayson.
How does he act around children he doesn’t know?
He’s not mean, but he doesn’t go out of his way to acknowledge them. Mostly he avoids eye contact and side-steps around them. He grew up in a brothel, left home when he was 18 and took on various jobs before turning to outlawing. None of which really put him in the company of children to learn how to interact with them.
What is he like first thing in the morning?
If he’s around a campfire, he’ll get the coffee cooking and feed his horse. In town, he’s likely to hit up the eatery, or the saloon, for coffee. On Jill’s farm, he’s milking the cow and prowling for her intruder before his morning coffee.
How does he handle things when in a “proper” social situation?
He doesn’t concern himself with polite society, knows he’s rude and brash and prefers to keep that persona, until he meets Jill. Unwilling to cause trouble for her, or embarrass her, he tones down some of his brashness.
Valet or takes care of himself?
He takes care of himself. If he were ever introduced to a valet, he’d send the valet running for the hills.
    Necktie/cravat or open shirt?
Open shirt. Slade has little use for fancy clothes.
    Sleeves buttoned or rolled up?
    Both.
    Powdered wig or natural hair?
Natural hair. He’s the type to poke fun at a wig, and any man who wears one.
    Carriage or horseback?
He prefers horseback, but isn’t against riding in a carriage or a buckboard.
Thanks for helping us get to know your hero!

    Julie Lence Social Media

Julie was born and raised in upstate New York. She married her high school sweetheart and accompanied him on his twenty-year career with the United States Air Force. Presently, she resides in the Pikes Peak region, where she’s a stay-at-home mom enjoying a career writing western historical romance.
Throughout her school years, Julie enjoyed reading and writing. A friend introduced her to the romance genre in the late 80’s and she was instantly hooked, crediting Judith McNaught and Johanna Lindsey as her inspirations to pen her own novels. As she puts it, Ms. McNaught’s voice is flawless and Ms. Lindsey’s Malory family is endearing and addictive. Combining her fondness for horses, John Wayne and the television series, Dallas, Julie settled into writing about cowboys, outlaws and the ‘old west’ early in her career.
Julie self-publishes her work thru Amazon and Create Space. She also designs her covers. When she’s away from her computer, she enjoys taking care of her family and home, exploring the Rocky Mountains and meeting fans of the romance genre.
