Genre Romance with a paranormal twist
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG
When Sofia falls in love, a mourning spirit begins to haunt her…
    CORFU, 1987
On a long holiday with her grandparents, Sofia Aspioti meets Danny Markson, a charming flirt who makes her laugh. Although she tries to keep him at arm’s length, worried that village gossip will get back to her strict family, she falls desperately in love. That’s when strange dreams about Brighton’s West Pier and a woman dressed in black begin to haunt her. Who is this grieving woman? And how is her lament related to Sofia’s feelings for Danny?
    BRIGHTON, 1937
Dreaming of wealth and happiness, Laura Mayfield arrives in Brighton to pursue a new life. She falls for Christian Searle, a happy-go-lucky stagehand at the West Pier theatre, but when she’s offered a chance to perform there, her love for him is put to the test. Charles Willard, a wealthy aristocrat, is fascinated by her and pursues her relentlessly. Will Laura choose love…or money?

“Ms. Moschoudi is proving to be a skilled storyteller who takes her readers on a wonderful ride.”
~David M. Wind, author of Queen of Knights

“Reading Ms Moschoudi’s work is like visiting a friend. You are so wrapped up in the story that you don’t want it to end!”
    ~Julie Blaskie, Amazon reviewer

“I could feel the warm sun and sandy beaches even on a cold dreary day.”
    ~Helen Johnson Brumbaugh, Amazon reviewer

The Ebb is a feel good, summer holiday romance. Even though it’s the first book in a series, it has a satisfactory ending and can be enjoyed as a standalone read.

Know the Heroine from The Ebb

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.
It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?
Sofia loves to daydream or to write poetry so she’s likely to do one of the two. Or even both.
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
A cheese pastry. It’s one of the most popular go-to snacks for students in Athens such as herself.
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
She works on a sports pier on the beach in Corfu during the summer so wears her swimsuit all day long. In the evenings, she wears shorts or mini skirts and flimsy cotton t-shirts as it’s too hot and humid to wear anything else.
Does she know how to fix things?
Goodness, no! These things are done only by men in her Greek world of the 1980s…
She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
When things go bad, Sofia tends to get upset and cry. Not because she’s weak but because she’s grown too fed up to handle her inner misery by now. Her parents are overprotective, and her father, especially, is very strict and expects her to be perfect in every way. The last time she got in trouble with her dad was when she had some fun going out for a drink with her cousins but neglected to drop by her uncle Yannis’s restaurant on her way home like she was supposed to. In her defense, though, Uncle Yannis gives her the creeps…
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
Sofia is sweet and gentle with children. Her mother and grandmother are both affectionate, nurturing women who show her love generously, so she acts the same towards the young ones. Sofia actually likes the shy children the most, as they remind her of her at that age. She loves to make them laugh.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
Sofia stretches like a cat and yawns a lot in bed, snoozing for a good while before getting up. She dresses quickly in casual attire and after a cup of tea and some buttered toast she’s ready to face the day. When she rushes to catch the bus to Athens for her studies, she often skips breakfast and grabs a cheese pastry on her way to University.
How does she act around people who don’t know what she is?
Sofia acts nonchalant with everyone, and has become masterful over time at hiding her true feelings and wishes. She has many secrets because she was raised by overprotective parents and is plagued by village gossip in Corfu as well where she spends her summer holidays with her grandparents. The only person who knows all her secrets is her best friend Loula. Together, they visited a clairvoyant who told Sofia that Danny, the English tourist she’s fallen for, is someone she loved in a previous life. She also helped her make some sense of the grieving woman that haunts her dreams, dictating poems to her.
Will she let a worker handle things or do it herself?
Sofia doesn’t hire workers and lets her parents or grandparents deal with these things. She never does this sort of thing as everyone still treats her like a minor despite her being twenty years old. Even when she tries to get a job for the first time (in a sports pier in Corfu during the summer of 1987), she has to get her father’s permission first!
    Earrings/piercings/tattoos or unadorned skin?
Pierced earrings are okay. Sofia got her ears pierced as a teen which is very common in Greece and was deemed acceptable by her family. Anything else would be unheard of. Her family would have a fit, but she wouldn’t want to have any tattoos or piercings anyway. In her world, that’s a very uncommon thing to see.
    Personal vehicle or public transport?
Sofia doesn’t have a driver’s license so she takes buses to visit the Athens university. For her annual visit to the island of Corfu, she takes a coach, then a ferry across from the mainland.
    Recycle or toss?
Recycling isn’t a widespread practice in the 1980s in Greece. So, the only recycling Sofia does is that of printed paper. She uses the blank side for noting stuff down. Oh. And she donates her old clothes to the local church or to poor families in her neighborhood.

I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your heroine, but first, tell us about the book.

Bear of the Midnight Sun by Holly Bargo

    Genre Paranormal Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
After a thousand years, immortal polar bear shifter Sindre finally finds his mate—on a talk show. In the city where anything goes, an impromptu wedding is just a taste of what’s to come. Startled into going through the ceremony, Miranda can’t stop the big, virile man from staking his claim on her and releasing her bear. Sindre can’t believe his good luck and will do anything to keep his mate at his side, up to and including taking marital advice from Atlas Leonidus. An independent woman with a successful career, Miranda melts at his touch and shuns his control, except she can’t control her bear.

Know the Heroine from Bear of the Midnight Sun

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.
It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?
Miranda prefers a quiet kind of life, so she picks up a book and reads. Or takes a nap. Naps are good.
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
Ice cream. Who doesn’t like ice cream?
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
Comfortable, tailored clothing, like jeans and a button-down shirt or soft sweater.
Does she know how to fix things?
Miranda’s mother prizes independence above all things, and insisted she learn how to perform basic household repairs. As a woman living alone, she sees the sense in having that kind of practical knowledge. She mows her own yard, too, although gardening doesn’t float her boat.
She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
Miranda would love to be a gourmet cook, but hasn’t got the knack. For a small dinner party, she once attempted a soufflĂ© from a venerable French recipe. She followed the instructions to the letter, but it somehow managed explode. SoufflĂ©s collapse, but they don’t explode. Except hers did. She ordered pizza delivery instead, and, after the party, spent three hours cleaning out the burned splatter from her oven. She vowed never to attempt anything like that again.
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
Miranda is uncomfortable about children, having never really interacted with them since she was a child herself. In fear of saying the wrong thing, she holds herself aloof to observe them.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
Miranda’s ambivalent about mornings, although her cat Gonzo ensures she rises at the proper hour to ensure he receives his breakfast. She prefers to take her mornings with a cup or two of her favorite caffeinated beverage.
How does she act around people who don’t know what she is?
Like many authors, Miranda’s an introvert and reserved. Definitely not the life of the party, she’ll join the other wallflowers to watch and listen to the other guests.
Will she let a worker handle things or do it herself?
Having grown up the daughter of a fiercely independent mother, Miranda learned to handle her own problems. In Bear of the Midnight Sun, she learns that she can’t necessarily handle her own problems and that needing help doesn’t necessarily imply weakness.
    Earrings/piercings/tattoos or unadorned skin?
She has no tattoos or body piercings, although she does have pierced ears and prefers more delicate earrings that enhance rather than make a bold statement. With her mother, a lawyer who chews razor wire for breakfast, Miranda’s tastes toward bodily embellishment tend to be conservative.
    Personal vehicle or public transport?
Personal vehicle, definitely. In small town and rural America, public transport often doesn’t exist. A privately owned car or truck is necessary.
    Recycle or toss?
Miranda will recycle, as long as it’s not too inconvenient or costly. Having had an irregular income for most of her adult life, she measures cost against environmental responsibility carefully before making a purchase. Convenience is definitely a factor in her decisions to recycle, repurpose, or reuse.

Murder is Messy: Space Janitor One by Julia Huni

    Genre Science Fiction Cozy Mystery
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG
In space, no one can hear you clean.
Most people want fame and fortune, but not Triana Moore. She prefers programming maintenance bots and eating vendo food in the solitude of the space station’s control center. But when a highly connected security agent interrupts her routine with stories of murder and missing bodies, Triana can’t ignore him; it’s cooperate or find a new job. A girl has to pay the rent, even on a crappy studio compartment.
Since working with a shiny detective beats a shuttle dirt-side, Triana lends her programming skills to Agent O’Neill’s investigation. Together, they find more victims and evidence of a major cover-up. A killer with a clean-up crew means money—lots of money, and connections—just the kind of notice Triana tries to avoid. Following the clues leads them to the wealthiest levels of the station, uncovers long-hidden secrets, and puts the killer on notice.
It will take all Triana’s technical talents, most of O’Neill’s connections, and some really excellent croissants to stop the murders, save her job, and ultimately, her life.

Know the Heroine from Murder is Messy: Space Janitor One

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.
It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?
Triana loves to watch videos, especially early 21st century sci-fi shows like StarTrek, Battlestar Galactica, or Guardians of the Galaxy.
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
Triana will eat just about anything and everything. Her favorites are noodles from Hot-Good Noodles, pierogis from the Happy Poel, and chocolate from Dolce Amour. Or really, any chocolate.
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
Her favorite clothing is her Station Kelly-Kornienko maintenance coverall. It’s drab brown, with a station patch on the shoulder, but it’s soft, comfy, and stain resistant. It also doesn’t require any jewelry or accessories.
Does she know how to fix things?
Triana can fix anything computer related. She’s not so good at fixing dinner.
She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
Triana tried to hack her holo-ring so the station operating system wouldn’t be able to track her. Unfortunately, this meant doors would no longer open, lights turned off when everyone else left the room, and she couldn’t order noodles at her favorite restaurant.
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
She likes to think she’d be like the cool aunt who takes her sister’s kids places their parents would never let them go. In reality, there are very few children on SK2, so she’s kind of uncomfortable around them.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
Triana is quiet until she gets her first cup of coffee, but she’s not cranky. She’s also not particularly peppy.
How does she act around people who don’t know what she is?
Nobody really knows what she is. So, either her whole life is an act, or she just acts like herself. Even she isn’t sure which is true.
Will she let a worker handle things or do it herself?
She’s really independent. Most things she wants to do herself, but sometimes she manages to screw them up.
    Earrings/piercings/tattoos or unadorned skin?
Triana doesn’t have any piercings or tattoos, but, in her world skin and eye color can be changed by an esthetician. Triana’s roommate, Kara, does skin and hair mods, and in the second book of the series, she learns eye mods. She loves to practice on Triana.
    Personal vehicle or public transport?
She lives on a space station, so neither. Although in book 2 they go dirtside, ride a HyperLoop and later rent a bubble.
    Recycle or toss?
Always recycle. The station is green!

A Question of Trust by Mona Karel

    Genre Romantic Suspense
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13
Lana Greene doesn’t care that most of the world sees her as avaricious and amoral. All the better for her to stand as a shield against those who would exploit the weaker. Until the day she comes up against a situation too difficult, too dangerous, for her to handle on her own, and she has to reach out to her ex-husband.
Adam Roberts dedicated himself to keeping the world safe until his efforts took part of a leg and much of his self worth. When Ty Randolph asks him to take on a simple escort he’s more than willing to help out his new friends.
But there is far more at stake than anyone realizes. Lana and Adam have to learn to trust themselves and each other to succeed in saving many innocent lives.

Know the Heroine from A Question of Trust

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.
It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?
At one time she would have slept since her lifestyle didn’t allow her near enough sleep. Once she met Adam she was never bored.
What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?
Lana likes simple foods, homemade cakes, and fresh water. She’s never quite picked up the knack of baking so when she does have the opportunity she grabs the best and the freshest. Chocolate cake, cinnamon rolls…mmmmmmmmmmm
Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.
The real Lana prefers to wear comfortable clothes, slouchy socks, and happy shoes. Party Girl Lana, her usual persona, wears clothes just this side of indecent and shoes that make her feet weep. When most people see her in Party Girl Lana mode, they miss the bright mind constantly at work making things happen.
Does she know how to fix things?
She knows how to fix a party, how to fix the evil done by human traffickers. She’s not so good at fixing her love life but she gets there eventually.
She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
In A Question of Honor, Lana was following up on an anonymous tip about a Navajo girl in danger. The tip came from Sydney’s nasty ex, and Lana ended up in the hospital.
How does she act around children she doesn’t know?
Often these children are the ones she’s trying to protect. On the outside she’s matter of fact, calm, and stays that way until the danger is past. Inside she’s weeping and screaming.
What is she like first thing in the morning?
Lana learned to wake up fast. She’s on her feet and ready to solve the world’s problems. This is before she met Adam. Now she’d just as soon stay in bed.
    Can she use chopsticks?
She’s used them, but she’s not super proficient. One time she got a splinter from a restaurant chopstick.
Does she drink coffee? If so, how does she take it? If not, what does she drink instead?
She drinks coffee if she has to but her preference is for high quality water, hot, with lemon slices.
What apps would she have on her phone?
GPS, and whatever gibberish Party Girl Lana might need to help hold her cover.
    Android or iPhone?
Whatever she has in her hand at the time. If it works, she’s good with it.
    Earrings or unpierced ears?
Pierced, though she rarely wears long earrings since they get in the way.
    Tattoos or unadorned skin?
Unadorned. Tattoos are too easy to use for ID
    Personal vehicle or public transport?
At home she has a dependable aged SUV.
    Recycle or toss?
    Recycle

    Mona Karel Social Media

Mona Karel became convinced at an early age that her life would not really begin until she was about thirty five. She has no idea what precipitated that thought, but she claims she was a strange child. Until reaching that age, she led a peripatetic existence for many years, criss-crossing the country, working with horses and dogs—and waiting tables to support her other jobs. At thirty five, when many people are well into raising their families, Karel settled down to “real” work as a buyer and expediter. She married a high school teacher, which led to over twenty years in Southern California.
Karel can’t remember a time she wasn’t reading, though she doesn’t remember much fun with Dick and Jane. Her preferred stories involved dogs and horses, and once she had gone through every horse book in the high school library, she started in on Civil War stories. They rode horses, didn’t they? At that time Romance was swashbucklers and Gothic, and many preferred the stronger heroines of Mary Stewart and Victoria Holt. Then Karel discovered Romance in the form of Silhouette, Candlelight, and RWA, and her life was complete. Karel has since retired to New Mexico, where she lives in the wind at 6,500 feet with her Salukis. When not writing or going to dog shows, Karel works at a solar related firm.

Her travel companion not only succeeds in thwarting her purchase–he reveals himself as the man who took everything that should have been hers. Everything, that is, except her father’s ring, which she recovers before being tossed out of the inn into the snowy night.
The newly anointed Viscount Cathmore has accepted there is no way to avoid living his father’s dream of nobility, but he’s drawn the line at marrying a blue-blooded miss–until he meets Rosalyn, a provoking beauty with an upper crust manner, a larcenous streak, and enough secrets to rouse even his jaded heart. And when more mysteries swirl around Rosalyn’s lost inheritance, Cathmore is just the man to help her uncover the truth.

Award winning author Alina K Field earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English and German literature, but her true passion is the much happier world of romance fiction. Though her roots are in the Midwestern U.S., after six very, very, very cold years in Chicago, she moved to Southern California and hasn’t looked back. She shares a midcentury home with her husband, her spunky, blonde, rescued terrier, and the blue-eyed cat who conned his way in for dinner one day and decided the food was too good to leave.
She is the author of several Regency romances, including the 2014 Book Buyer’s Best winner, Rosalyn’s Ring. She is hard at work on her next series of Regency romances, but loves to hear from readers!
