Is It True: Baby, Count on Me by Robin Michaela @robinsromances #RLFblog #contemporary

Play Is It True with today’s guest Robin Michaela, author of Baby, Count on Me, a contemporary romance. This is a game in which authors answer yes and no questions. They can elaborate on answers as much as they choose.

First, tell us about your book.
You don’t always get a second chance on your first love.
Workaholic CPA Jenna Carmichael has played it safe all her life, except for once back in college when she gambled on romance and ended up with heartbreak. Her domineering father controlled every aspect of her world back then, and still does, but Jenna’s been nurturing a tiny spark of defiance and it’s finally ready to blaze to life.
Mechanical engineer Beau Davis saw plenty of excitement during his military service. Now, he’s ready to settle down in the cozy rural town of Sweetness, Georgia. The trouble is, he can’t find a woman who stirs his heart the way his college sweetheart did, and he’s been comparing women to her ever since.
When Jenna comes to Sweetness to audit the small town’s government grant, she and Beau are reunited. What will they be willing to risk for a second chance at love?

Now, tell us Yes or No for each answer below. Feel free to explain any (or none) of your answers.

Is it true:

this is your first book?
Yes and no. Baby, Count on Me is my first book, but I’ve written two others since this one was published.
this book is part of a series?
Yes. This is Book #1 in the Southern Hearts series (it’s a standalone, with an HEA, though). The second book is Baby, That’s the Spirit!, which tells the story of Beau’s cousin, Amethyst. She’s a clairvoyant who sees ghosts, but her love interest thinks the whole thing is ca-ca..
you lost sleep while writing this book?
Sadly, yes. I lose sleep when I’m writing all of my books. I keep turning plots over and over in my head.
you did research for this book?
Not really. It takes place in the North Georgia Mountains not far from where I live so I was familiar with the settings in some scenes (like the river tubing scene).
some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)
This book is about humans…no shifters, pets, etc. Book #2, however, has a few ghosts in it, as well as Amethyst’s black cat, Boo.
this book has more than one genre?
This one is strictly contemporary. Book 2 in the series (Baby, That’s the Spirit!) is contemporary with some paranormal elements
you speak more than one language?
I had three years of German in high school and can only remember about 20 words now. So, no…
you grew up where you live now?
No, I grew up in Florida, but now I live in Georgia.
you love to read?
Yes, in fact that’s one of the things I miss most about being an author. I don’t read as much as I used to because I’m always writing.
you are never late?
My Handsome Prince wishes that I was on time, but I have to admit to usually being on either right on the nose or a teensy bit late for most things (I’m always trying to get one more word on my manuscript…)
you love pizza?
I do! Especially Hawaiian pizza (Canadian bacon and pineapple on top. Yum!)
you love sushi?
Not really, but I can get by with California Rolls in a pinch.
you have a pet?
Yes, I’m owned by two cats, Cleo and Boo.

Robin Michaela has been reading romances since her teen years, when she first snuck her aunt’s copy of The Flame and the Flower, by Kathleen Woodiwiss.
She’s married to her own Handsome Prince (a military airman) and has lived everywhere from the sunny shores of Florida to the wild crags of the Colorado Rocky Mountains. She currently resides in the Deep South. By day, she’s a dental hygienist and by night, Robin can be found eating chocolate, training for her next half marathon, and crafting her next novel (although not necessarily in that order).
Robin’s stories have been called “a simply delicious escape”. Sparks fly and desire sizzles when her irresistible heroines challenge the men of their dreams.
