Interview with Beloved Unmasked Author, @britaaddams #RLFBlog #GayRomance

A book release includes a book cover, blurb, buy links,
short questionnaire, and social media contacts for the author.

    Interview with Brita Addams

Why did you write this book?
    I have a deep
interest in the history of New Orleans, having lived there for many years. I
wanted to write a story about a part of New Orleans that no longer exists.
What is your favorite genre to read?
    When
researching, I read histories, biographies, and real-life stories. For
recreation, I enjoy historical romance. I very rarely read contemporary
    romance.
Who is your favorite character from fiction
    (not including your own)?
    Hands down,
my favorite character is Sydnam Butler from Mary Balogh’s Simply Love. His
broken, dark life has stayed with me for years.
What are you working on at the moment, and
will see from you in coming months?
    I am
finishing up Cedar Grove, the story of Emile Dauterive, who readers met in
Beloved Unmasked. I’ll have it submitted by the second week of January. Then
I’m diving into the finale of Tarnished Souls, but I’m itching to start work on
a Civil War era story. We’ll see.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Born to a spiteful prostitute in Storyville, the red-light district in
New Orleans, David comes into the world as Picayune, meaning “of little value,”
or, as his mother reminds him, “nothing.” In the early 20th century brothels
and clubs, his love of music sustains young Pic until a life-changing meeting
places him on the road to respectability, and Pic reinvents himself as David
    Reid.
As David realizes happiness for the first time, conscription forces his
friend and first love, Spencer Webb, into the Great War. While he pursues a law
degree, letters from Spence connect David to his hopes for the future. After
staggering news at war’s end, David must find a way to move forward. Under the
tutelage of his benefactor, David’s career prospers, but specters from
Storyville threaten all he’s worked so hard to achieve.
The past holds both pain and love. Will facing it head-on destroy David
or give him everything he’s ever dared dream?

Dark desires, shocking secrets, and an offer that holds the key to unlocking passion will keep you turning the pages of A Matter of Discipline, The Studio Book 1 by contemporary romance author DawnMarie Richards. Discover what happens when a shy librarian meets a mysterious man who introduces her to a new world of sexual pleasure.
Life holds few surprises for unconventional photographer Blake Vince. But when he’s bowled over by the new town librarian, and catches sight of the less than proper novel she’s reading, he makes the naughty little bookworm an indecent proposal.
Marion Hertz is resigned to confining her dark desires between the covers of her racy paperbacks. After all, she has her reputation to consider. But when the dark and mysterious Mr. Vince makes her a shocking offer, she finds it impossible to refuse.
The two soon discover passion plays by its own rules. Marion’s naïve submission tempts Blake at every turn, and what was meant to be a lesson in restraint for her becomes, for him, A Matter of Discipline.

Pat Henshaw author Behr Facts @phenshaw #RLFblog #gayromance

    Behr Facts
Pat Henshaw author of Behr Facts answers five easy questions
to help readers get to know her better.

    Author Bio

Pat Henshaw, author of the Foothills Pride Stories, was born
and raised in Nebraska where she promptly left the cold and snow after college,
living at various times in Texas, Colorado, Northern Virginia, and Northern California.
Pat enjoys travel, having visited Mexico, Canada, Europe, Nicaragua, Thailand, and
Egypt, and Europe, including a cruise down the Danube.
Now retired, Pat has spent her life surrounded by words: Teaching
English composition at the junior college level; writing book reviews for newspapers,
magazines, and websites; helping students find information as a librarian; and promoting
    PBS television programs.
Her triumphs are raising two incredible daughters who daily amaze
her with their power and compassion. Fortunately, her incredibly supportive husband
keeps her grounded in reality when she threatens to drift away while writing fiction.
    What is your go-to meal
    when you dine out?
Recently my husband and I have been going out to lunch a few
times a week to Café Dantorels where we’ve been ordering our comfort meal: prawns
crepe, Fuji salad with a wonderful balsamic vinaigrette, and chocolate chip cookie.
We split everything because Dantorels serves large portions. There’s nothing like
this meal to brighten my day and make me feel ready to write in the afternoon.
    Describe the perfect vacation.
My perfect vacation is relaxing in Pacific Grove, California,
home of the Monarch butterflies. Pacific Grove sits on the California coast right
before Big Sur and adjacent to Monterey Bay. But unlike its hustle-bustle neighbor
with its wonderful aquarium, PG is quiet and lazy, perfect for sleeping in and then
walking the beach before settling in at the coffee shop to write. PG also is home
to Passionfish, one of the truly great restaurants in the world. What more could
    a person want?
    What are your hobbies?
I make dollhouse miniatures in quarter inch scale. Quarter inch
means that the houses and furnishings are constructed so that ¼” is equal to
1 foot in reality. My first project was a two-story bookstore, and from that first
project I’ve constructed all sorts of other buildings and an incredible amount of
add-ons like furniture, plants, rugs, wall hangings, and other things. I belong
to a couple of swap groups which trade handmade bits and pieces over the course
    of the year.
    When you read for pleasure,
what kind of books do you choose?
For the past few years I’ve concentrated on gay romances. I was
a book reviewer for many years and started off reviewing mysteries until they got
much too gruesome and graphic in their depictions of the crimes being committed.
Then I switched to het romance and finally have drifted to gay romance. I also dabble
in fantasy when a blurb piques my interest.
    What kinds of things do
you read when you’re researching a new book?
For Behr Facts, I watched innumerable YouTube videos on framing
walls and other construction techniques. In addition I looked up the California
codes for building construction and collected different ways companies track their
jobs and make job flow happen. Finally, we had our house remodeled right before
I wrote the book, and I talked to the construction bosses and crews about the job.
They were invaluable in my research process.

    About the Book

    Title Behr Facts
    Genre gay romance
    Author Pat Henshaw
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): G
Big, burly CEO Abe Behr is dismayed to discover someone—possibly
a family member—is stealing from Behr Construction, which primarily employs Behr
relatives. Abe takes the unprecedented step in hiring an outsider, likeable CPA
Jeff Mason, to go over the books and help find the culprit. They are drawn to each
other as they talk to workers, including Abe’s two younger brothers and their shifty
    cousin.
Since he has sacrificed romance all his life to build the business,
Abe’s surprised by his feelings for the handsome Jeff. He’s even more shocked when
they are confronted by bigotry in the Sierra Nevada foothills community, which is
being inundated by gays moving from the San Francisco area. As he and Jeff get closer,
Abe must come to grips with coming out to a family and community that aren’t very
tolerant. Fortunately, being the head Behr helps him find his footing and grab onto
    love when it bites him.

Thank you for a great 2015! The Romance Lives Forever blog grew,
and some wonderful features were added. For the year, there were 351 posts.

    Social Media

The link between the blog and Paper.li helped get out the word about blog posts.
The paper is an online daily ezine, and this one posts to Twitter. The blog uses
the hashtag #RLFblog, and you can click on Twubs
    to check its reach.
    Triberr did a great
job of sharing the news as well. Because of my followers, the tribemates I associate
with, and their followers, RLF has a reach of over 3.5 million. The program works
because it brings new readers, and reminds current ones of new material. It provides
an average of 45 – 50 mentions on Twitter every day, and since each post has the
guest author’s Twitter handle in the title, that means the guest gets mentioned

    Sir Phillip from A Devilish Slumber @ShereenVedam #RLFblog #Regency

    A Devilish Slumber

Shereen Vedam shares details about the creation of Phillip in the book A Devilish Slumber.

    About the Book

Title A Devilish Slumber (The Rue Alliance Book 1)
    Genre Regency Fantasy Romance
    Author Shereen Vedam
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13
The last of her family, Rose is mired in grief at the recent death of her beloved sister and the abandonment by the man she loves. Wanting to avoid the cloying attention of friends, servants and well-wishers, she becomes a recluse. Then one day, she meets a woman who reminds Rose of her gentle mother . . . and then news comes of her new friend’s brutal murder. Rose refuses to accept this latest blow lying down. So she resurrects an ancient, magical, family talent to re-shape her features in order to disguise herself as a young man, and goes hunting for her friend’s killer through London’s seedier lanes and dangerous dockyards.
Sir Phillip, the Regent’s favored spy, returns from war determined to win back the woman he was forced to leave three years ago. But when he witnesses Rose covered in blood, racing from a brutal scene while gripping the murder weapon, he goes on a desperate mission to unravel what he hopes is a case of mistaken identity.
Will Rose ever get her happily-ever-after? Possibly. But first, she’ll have to convince Phillip of her innocence-before the killer strikes again . . .

    Introducing Phillip Jones

    Name: Sir Phillip Crispin Jones
    Age: 23 years old
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: London, England
Profession: the Regent’s favored intelligence officer
Describe Phillip’s body build, skin tone, height and weight. Include any unique features such as dimples, freckles, or scars: 6′, lean, agile, narrow face, strong, generous, courageous, passionate and thrives on fast-paced adventures
Who is the significant other in Phillip’s life?
    Lady Roselyn (Rose) Ravenstock
Tell us about this character, please.
Rose was inspired by the fairy tale character, Sleeping Beauty. She is the twenty-one year old daughter of an earl, who only wants peace and quiet to come to terms with an unquenchable sorrow and overwhelming remorse. Though none of it was her fault, she feels as if she might be jinxed to bring harm to anyone who cares for her. To avoid entanglements, Rose has become a recluse, even discharging all of her well-meaning but clinging servants. All but one, a loyal young maid fleeing her own troubled family who insists on staying to the point of harming herself with her incessant knocking at Rose’s front door. Rose relents and allows her to come inside and care for a now secluded house and its lonely, heartbroken mistress.
On what special skills does Phillip rely?
Phillip is an Intelligence Office for the Regent in 1814, London, England. He is often sent to war-torn Europe to infiltrate enemy camps and unearth military secrets. He has a keen sense for noting details and a quick wit that has helped him stay alive in dangerous times. Possessing a naturally suspicious mind, he also has a particular knack for uncovering deception.
What kinds of things does Phillip always carry?
He never leaves home without two things: 1) a walking stick with a handy rapier, a long thin sword, hidden within, and, 2) a circular tinderbox and accompanying candle, for his late night prowls down dark alleyways in search of suspects.
    Is Phillip close to family?
He loves his cousin Rufus like a brother, but they had a falling out after a childhood misunderstanding resulted in Rufus paying a steep price for something Phillip had done. Though Rufus seems to hold no grudges, Phillip has never forgiven himself for that mistake.
Can Phillip keep a secret (why or why not)?
Phillip keeps lots of secrets. Though recently, one of his best kept secrets was leaked to the press.
What is Phillip’s biggest need at the beginning of the story?
Before she sent him away, Rose accused Phillip of being unable to trust anyone. So he wants to quiet his constantly probing mind in order to perceive the good in people as well as he does their darkness.
Who has the power to hurt Phillip the most and why?
Phillip’s first attempt to practice his rusty trusting skills is to befriend a young stranger he meets while on a case. Ben Turner is searching for the same ruthless killer that Phillip hunts. Except Ben has a secret that could devastate Phillip, and shake his ability to trust in anyone ever again, especially Rose.
What is Phillip willing to give up to win Rose’s heart?
He is willing to give up his lifelong goal to right wrongs.

    About Your Writer

    Shereen Vedam

To honor the person who chose to share your story, please answer the following questions.

What do you wish your writer had not told others about you?
My role as the Regent’s Intelligence Officer is a sensitive one that relies on absolute secrecy. Except, thanks to Shereen, I am now the talk of London. The events in her last book resulted in my greatest secret, my clandestine work for the Regent, being spilled to the press. As a result, the rags have even been printing cartoons about me! A cartoon. Can you believe it? My life’s work is now a public joke.
Is there anything you’d like to say to Shereen?
Considering my answer above, it might surprise you to learn that I wish to thank Shereen. For NOT portraying me a deuced deluded dummy. Did you read her first draft? She made me out to be some sort of idiot who couldn’t find a worm in an apple orchard. Thank heavens her final draft acknowledged my detecting skills as exemplary. And she also gave me a chance to win Rose back, not just her love but her invaluable friendship. For that latter accomplishment, I might even forgive Shereen for the cartoon catastrophe.
