Will returning to their Amish roots renew their faith in
each other?
Isaac and David never thought they’d go back to the Amish world. But when
Isaac’s younger brother is stricken with cancer, they don’t hesitate to return.
Their relationship is on the rocks after insecurity and fear drove a wedge
between them in San Francisco, and David is determined to make things right.
Yet if they thought navigating “English” life was confusing, being back in
Zebulon is even more complicated.
Their families are desperate to bring them back into the fold, and pressure
from the community builds. Isaac and David yearn for a future together, but
each day it becomes harder to hide the truth about who they really are. They’re
caught between two worlds, and if they’re not careful it could tear them
further apart.
Can Isaac and David make their way back to each other—and find a place to call
home?

Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. Your author introduced
you. Now we’d like to get to know you better. Please tell us about yourself.
When someone dies, we say they “kicked the
bucket.” Therefore, a list of things that a person wants to accomplish,
places to go, situations to experience, and so on have become known as a
“Bucket List.” We’d like to know yours, please. If you haven’t made one
before, perhaps now would be a good time. Who knows? It might inspire another
book. While you’re at it, how about telling us about some of your other
favorite things? Here are the questions.
What are two places
you would like to visit before you die, and why?
It’s so
hard to pick. I want to go everywhere! But I really want to visit Australia
since it seems like the farthest place I could go. I also want to visit Europe
and take a train to all the different countries with David. He’s my boyfriend.
One day he’ll be my husband, but we’re waiting a few years before that happens.
Where is a place you
would never like to return, and why?
*shifts
uncomfortably* Part of me wants to say Zebulon, the Amish settlement where I
grew up. I can never live there again, but my family’s still there. So I still
want to visit if they’ll let me.
Who is someone you
would like to meet, and why?
The
president. He’s so important, and I didn’t grow up knowing anything about the
government. But I’m learning now.
Who is someone you
would like to avoid, and why?
Mean
people. I haven’t met many out here in the world, but I see them on TV.
If you could time
travel to any date, what would it be, and what would you do there?
I kind of
grew up like I’d time traveled, living as though it was 150 years ago. So I’ve
done enough time traveling! I want to stay put.
What is your birth
order?
I’m the
fourth child of eight. Right in the middle!
Tell us about your
favorite toy as a child.
We didn’t
have the kind of toys English kids have. (That’s what we called non-Amish
people—English.) I liked spinning tops and stuff like that, but my favorite
thing was the pen knife my big brother Aaron left for me when he ran away from
home to go into the world. I kept it with me all the time, and I still have it.
Describe your
favorite food and how it’s prepared.
Pizza! I
have no idea how they make it, but I love to eat it. My favorite Amish food is
shoofly pie, which is a sweet pie made of molasses. The women did all the
cooking, so I’m not sure how it’s prepared. That’s one of the things I have to
learn out here—how to cook.
Tell us about your
best friend.
Well, my
best friend was always Mervin Miller. We were born only a couple weeks apart,
so we sat next to each other in church and everything. It seemed like we were
just always friends for as long as I can remember. But he’s still in Zebulon,
and it’s hard for him to accept that I’m gay. My boyfriend David is my best
friend now. He’s just… *blushes*  He’s
the best. Yeah. David’s my best friend.
