Do It Write: Where Bernadette Jones writes @RomanceBJones #RLFblog #Romantic SuspenseA runaway on a storm-buffeted highway brings danger to Spencer, Colorado, in Bernadette Jones’ new romantic suspense, Lonely Eyes. Can Owen Strong protect young Keira Hoa, or is she leading them all into a death trap?

Bernadette, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Before we talk about your office, please tell us about your latest book.

    Lonely Eyes by Bernadette Jones

    Genre Romantic Suspense

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

There is an art to pursuit.

Keira is running out of time. The handsome stranger with a dragon tattoo says he can keep her safe, but he doesn’t know the demons on her trail… Will her mysterious past lead her to escape, or drag her back to living hell?

Owen Strong has suffered tragedy, but he’s made a new family in Spencer, Colorado—one he will protect at all costs. When he finds determined Keira Hoa, she rouses more than just trouble. Looking into her lonely eyes, he sees that everyone’s in danger.

But she’s come to the right place. He’s the monster hunter.

How long have you been writing?

I wrote for 18 years and came close to a traditional publishing contract 3 times. Then I had to quit writing for a few years. I’ve been back at it for a year and a half, with three self-published books out.

What was your first published book?

Sleepin’ Alone. You actually meet the hero of Lonely Eyes in Sleepin’ Alone.

Tell us about your writing space or home office.

I live in a studio apartment in the Big Apple. I have gorgeous views, but space is at a premium. My desk sits beside a window and my bookshelf is within easy reach—all my craft books, dictionaries and Thesaurus at my fingertips. Other than my coffee pot, everything is so handy. Um, maybe I should think about moving the coffee?!

    Anything special about your space?

Two things make it special. The view of the east river and the magnificent skyline at night. Really, I have one of the best views of the city skyline and the most glorious light from the floor-to-ceiling window. The natural light to warm my spirits. Like I said, it’s not a huge space, but it has some definite perks.

What do you love most about that area?

My desk, computer, and bookcase have always been my safe place. My comfort zone. Like other authors, I spend a lot of time in my head and here, in this chair, I get to create what I love.

What would like to change about your home office?

I would like my desk to be one foot longer. Ha. But if it was, I’d still probably want another foot.

If money was no object, what would your home office look like?

Do It Write: Where Bernadette Jones writes @RomanceBJones #RLFblog #Romantic SuspenseI would have an ocean view and open windows so I could hear the surf. Doesn’t that sound like the best place to write everyday?

What office equipment do you use most, other than your computer?

Alexa, I love her! I must have music when writing. Every book has its own playlist that helps inspire and drive the story.

What do you think is a must have for an efficient office?

Lots of colored pens, planners, and a storyboard. I am a plotter. I need to know where I’m going.

    Are you a writing mom/dad?

My human children have left home, but they continue to support and assist with critiquing and social media.

My furbaby pup still lives at home and calls me mom.

How do you juggle writing and family?

Covid has forced me to stay home more. I have a six-day-a-week work schedule, but the off day is not set in stone. If something comes up that I want or need to do with family, I change my day off. Life inspires my stories… it can’t be all work.

What’s the last book about writing that you read?

I’m currently reading, Intuitive Editing, by Tiffany Yates Martin. I love her down to earth common sense suggestions. She keeps it simple.

What book or books about writing do you recommend for new authors?

I grew up on Techniques of the Selling Writer, by Dwight V. Swain. It is still the first book I always recommend. This book tells you why readers read, what they expect, and how to get the emotional reactions you want from your readers. After he explains, he gives examples to show exactly the impact he’s after.

What do you like to read for relaxation?

I’m a paranormal-junkie. I love shapeshifters. Oh, and MC books.

Books and music filled her life as she, her dad and two brothers traveled the country. She would sit in the back seat of the car—her older brother always got to ride shotgun—listening to the current music on the radio, looking out the window and spinning a story based on a phrase she’d heard in the lyrics. As you can imagine, traveling the country, the music changed from state to state, as did the stories. To this day, she enjoys a wide variety of music and book genres.

Read the #RomanticSuspense Dark Energy by Addison Brae @AddisonBrae1 #RLFblog #rockmusicThe more powerful your enemies, the more friends you need. Will Gillian sacrifice her life to keep a promise? Dark Energy, a thrilling romantic suspense story of love and surviving evil by Addison Brae, is dedicated to anyone whose livelihood depends on bars.

Addison, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Dark Energy and the accompanying song of the same name.

    Dark Energy by Addison Brae

    Genre: Romantic Suspense

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Cybercrime doesn’t talk. It creeps in and destroys lives right under Gillian’s nose when a cryptojacking scheme lands her boss, Pinkie, in jail. Gillian had just started over with a new career, boyfriend, and confidence after escaping a vicious murder investigation that shattered her ability to trust. Then Pinkie’s arrest leaves her struggling to run his two bars while also unraveling the conspiracy.

Gillian will not let her mentor and friend go down for something he didn’t do. Neither will Jon, the most talented musician on the bar’s stage and the perfect boyfriend…until his good fortune sends her reeling. Gillian forces herself to trust the cops, people who hurt her, and known criminals. Will it be enough to free Pinkie and save her life?

    When stories come alive

Have you ever read a book with a cake or a cocktail recipe you’d love to try? Maybe a character wears an outfit that would be fun to recreate? How about a story that has a song you’d rather hear than imagine? These are the details that make a story relatable and the characters come alive.

Wearing one of the Mad Men-inspired suits from the clothing line at Banana Republic would make anyone feel more like Don Draper. Harry Potter series spawned interest in Quiddich and wearing the famous sweater vest as well as beverage recipes, strange candy flavors, and Hogwarts-like interior decorating. And we all know children named Bella, Emmett and Edward named from the Twilight series.

In Becker Circle, my first romantic suspense, the adorable hero wrote a song called Dark Energy for the main character for which he falls. He admires her tenacity to fight off and survive rotten luck that continues to land on her. As I wrote Dark Energy, the follow-up book to Becker Circle, it hit me the song needed to be written in reality.

Dark Energy, the song, symbolizes a debated cosmic theory. Some astronomers believe dark matter allows gravity to pull stars, suns, planets, and other matter together in the way some people draw other people together. Dark energy is the vast empty space that opposes dark matter. It lurks and slips into the voids of our lives trying to disrupt like it pushes matter apart as it attempts to destroy the universe. In the book, the main character was the dark matter in many people’s lives while dark energy tried to destroy her universe. Here is my favorite verse from the song:Read the #RomanticSuspense Dark Energy by Addison Brae @AddisonBrae1 #RLFblog #rockmusic

    I create my own history
    Don’t push this on me.
    Tipping the balance
Shed some light and set it free
    This dark energy.

Dark Energy, the book’s and the song’s title, holds poignant meaning now as people have struggled through 2020. Both are dedicated to all whose livelihoods depend on bars and restaurants and desperately need a break from dark energy. We can inspire them to keep repelling their dark energy. We can all get to the other side.

Music lovers can find the brand new song Dark Energy on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, Pandora, and all major digital music retailers and streaming sites.

Bucket list of Bruce from A Demon's Witch @TenaStetler #RLFblog #ParanormalRomanceA magical adventure between demon overlord & powerful witch bring out the intrigue in this paranormal romance/fantasy by Tena Stetler

Let’s meet Bruce from A Demon’s Witch, a Paranormal Romance by Tena Stetler. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about A Demon’s Witch.

A Demon’s Witch by Tena Stetler

    Genre Paranormal Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

Keeping a lid on all the paranormal beings inhabiting Washington D.C., is a daunting job. Bruce, a six hundred year old demon and the Territory Overlord of the Western Hemisphere, keeps his finger on the pulse of DC’s power players through the activities at his highly successful Wycked Hair Salon. His movie star good looks and body builder physique keeps his dance card full and the rumor mills running. Within these walls, his anonymity is safe, mostly.

Bruce’s world spins out of control when Angelique, a pint size, gorgeous witch, with an attitude breezes through the doors of his salon. She is the younger sister of Tristian, Bruce’s long time trusted enforcer, whose professional skills are second to none. Tristian is furious at the relationship between Bruce and Angelique, a dangerous situation, but something darker awaits them all. Yet undeniable attraction between demon and witch promises to tear apart both their professional and personal worlds.

When someone dies, we say they “kicked the bucket.” Therefore, a list of things that a person wants to accomplish, places to go, situations to experience, and so on have become known as a “Bucket List.”

Age: looks 35 actual age 600 years

    Gender: Male

    Birthplace: Earth

Profession: Demon Overlord of the Western Hemisphere. I own The Wycked Hair Salon in Washington DC & I can style, cut and color hair. Don’t do I much anymore.

    Ethnicity: Demon/Angel

    Species (for scifi/fantasy characters): Demon/Angel

Please provide a physical description of yourself.

Approximately six feet six inches tall,

Chestnut hair with blond streaks, shoulder length with a bit of a wave in it

Muscular with a few battle scars

Rubs his jaw. Guess you’d say I’ve a square jaw and sculptured cheek bones (according to Angie.)

Please tell us a little about yourself.

I’m the Territory Overlord of the Western Hemisphere. From my highly successful Wycked Hair Salon, I keep my finger on the pulse of DC’s power players and their activities. My human appearance is striking (my demon’s appearance is quite different with scales, reddish cast to my skin) and I’ve never lacked for female companions which keeps rumor mills running and my enemies off balance. Within the walls of my salon, my anonymity is safe, mostly.

Who is the significant other in your life? Angelique Shandie. We met when she sashayed into my salon, rain-soaked to the skin, delivering flyers for The Krystal Unicorn, her new age store down the block. The attraction was intense and immediate. Never felt anything like that in my six hundred years. I knew then and there she had to be mine. I had no idea the complications that would ensue.

If you haven’t made a bucket list before, perhaps now would be a good time. Who knows? It might inspire another book. While you’re at it, how about telling us about some of your other favorite things? Here are the questions.

What is your birth order?Bucket list of Bruce from A Demon's Witch @TenaStetler #RLFblog #ParanormalRomance

I am an only child. There’s a very good reason for that.

Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.

He Laughs. Never played with toys, always honed my magic and skills as a warrior. My father insisted.

Describe your favorite food and how it’s prepared.

A porterhouse steak, medium, baked potato loaded, home made rolls, a nice green salad (No onions) and dark chocolate mousse for dessert.

Tell us about your best friend.

Tristian Shandie, he’s my enforcer and unfortunately the big brother of Angie Shandie. That became a tangle and is a story for another time. Tristian has always had my back and I still trust him with my life.

What are two places you would like to visit before you die, and why?

I’ve been to Australia on business once. I’d like to go there for an extended visit. I’m not known there and I think it would be fun for Angie and I. Did you know there are species of creatures (normal not talking about paranormal) found nowhere else in the mortal world? The landscape is awe inspiring. Before I left there, I purchased land down under with a nice ranch house.

Ireland and Scotland, explore all the castles. I’ve been there on business and would like to spend vacation time there with Angie.

Where is a place you would never like to return, and why?

Seventh level of Hell. Tristian and I had to deliver a prisoner, Razar never want to go back.

Who is someone you would like to meet, and why?

Garth Books, Dolly Parton, Bob Seger. I enjoy their music.

Who is someone you would like to avoid, and why?

Ex-girl friends. Angie asked too many questions and I am not the same person since I met her.

If you could time travel to any date, what would it be, and what would you do there? The day Angie’s parents were murdered. She was only twelve years old. I’d attempt to defuse the situation before it got so out of hand or if not possible annihilate the Demons responsible. A little girl deserves to know her parents. And a big brother, only twenty-one years old, shouldn’t have to raise his little sister.

    About Tena Stetler

What was your biggest challenge in writing this book? It was my debut novel. My editor was fantastic. I learned a lot. Besides that Bruce was a difficult multifaceted character to write. I am a panster and he changed course often.

Why did you choose this character for the interview today? I loved the character I created. He was so much fun to write, even though it was challenging. (He’s named after my husband) Do they share characteristics? I’ll never tell. LOL

Are any sequels planned for this book? A Demon’s Witch was the book that started it all. Since it was first published, there’s been four more books in the series and I’ve just turned in the sixth book to my editor. I’ve been extremely lucky with the series popularity!

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you? I spent a few years as a DJ on a popular Rock station in my city.

Read a Christmas story by Seelie Kay The Last Christmas by @SeelieKay #RLFblog #NewRelease #ChristmasRomanceSanta advises the Wright family on how to create a miracle at Christmas in Seelie Kay’s new contemporary romance, The Last Christmas. Will that be enough to save their father’s life?

Seelie, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about The Last Christmas.

The Last Christmas by Seelie Kay

    Genre: Contemporary Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

When the doctors say there’s no hope, Santa begs to differ. After all, he claims, miracles are love combined with action to get the desired result. And at Christmas time, everyone deserves a miracle!

David Wright is dying from cancer. He is not expected to see another Christmas. At least that’s what the medical professionals say. Fortunately, Santa begs to differ. After all, modern medicine is nothing more than a best guess. Santa believes anything is possible until you give up. When Santa tells David’s wife, Joan, that heaven is full and she has to keep her husband alive, she is beside herself. She has no medical skills. How can she save anyone’s life? Set your skepticism aside as Santa embraces a family already mourning their father’s terminal diagnosis and teaches them that a Christmas miracle doesn’t always require heavenly intervention. Sometimes, all it takes is a family with enough love to create their own. As Santa says, a true miracle is when love combines with action to get the desired results. And only humans are capable of that. Will Santa’s words fall on deaf ears? Or will Team Wright find a way to save their father’s life?

Why did you write this book?

My father is 94-years-old and as you might expect, he has had a number of serious medical, age-related events. Each time, we were told to prepare for his death. Each time, he survived. The fact was, my Dad wasn’t ready to die. And his children and his grandchildren weren’t ready to let him go either. So I started thinking about terminal diagnoses and how they are really a best guess, not a guarantee. That, of course, led to thoughts how a terminal diagnosis often causes people to give up and prematurely mourn the death of the person who is ill. I wondered how that impacted the outcome. And because I was preparing to write a holiday book, I also started thinking about the power of family, and how, time after time, families are capable of creating miracles. That led me to “The Last Christmas.” Christmas truly is a time for miracles, and thought it important that everyone be able to experience one through the tale of the Wright Family.

Top 10 Things about Christmas by the author of Patriot (Hades Abyss MC) by Harley Wylde @HarleyW_Writer #RLFblog #HolidayRomance #MCRomanceA biker only has one Christmas wish in Harley Wylde’s new MC Romance, Patriot. MaryAnne may be off limits, but she’s all he wants this holiday season.

Harley, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! So, tell us what you love about Christmas.

Harley’s Top 10 Favorite Things About Christmas

Picking only ten things isn’t easy. There’s so much I love about the holiday season. But I’ll try to narrow it down…
    1. Christmas lights – not just at my house, but I love driving around at night to see the lights in various neighborhoods. There’s a house about thirty minutes from where I live that has animated lights and their own Christmas station (the lights dance to the songs).
    2. Peppermint white mochas (they’re like white chocolate dipped candy canes in a cup)
    3. Singing Christmas carols (but not until closer to the middle of December)
    4. Shopping for presents! (Honestly, I just love to shop. It doesn’t matter if I’m buying something for me or someone else. I always fill the Toys for Tots boxes with a few bags of stuff and buy way more than I should for my family).
    5. Christmas movies (my favorite is The Spirit of Christmas and the animated Burl Ives classic movies)
    6. Getting to look at a Christmas tree in the living room (especially at night when the lights are on)
    7. Candy Canes – I may have a slight addiction to them. Never give me an entire box because I’ll eat one after the other until they’re gone.
    8. Christmas sweaters – for the pets, not me. Yes, I’m one of those people. I get a Christmas sweater for the pug, and my huge orange tabby will even tolerate one for a little while.
    9. Mailing holiday cards to my readers. I always include a few bits of swag in the hopes it brightens someone’s day.
    10. Getting to eat a bunch of different desserts Christmas Eve and Christmas Day without feeling guilty about it!
Do you have a top 10 list of holiday favorites?

Patriot (Hades Abyss MC) by Harley Wylde

    Genre Contemporary Holiday Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

MaryAnne — I was sixteen when I learned a hard lesson. No, it wasn’t a lesson. It was worse. Kidnapped, tortured, abused in the worst of ways… I’d thought my life was over. Until the day my knight in shining armor came to save me. Patriot. Despite how scary he looks, he has to be the kindest man I’ve ever met. He not only rescues damsels in distress, but animals too. Under that hard exterior is a heart of gold. It doesn’t matter that he’s older than me. The more I get to know him, the harder I start to fall. But why would a man like him ever want someone like me? I’m dirty. Damaged. Broken beyond repair. Or am I? After all, Christmas is a time for miracles.

Patriot — From the moment I saw her, she’s had me wrapped around her finger. I’ve done my best to chase the fear and shadows from her eyes, show her she’s safe. I’ve taken out nearly every man who ever hurt her, even if she doesn’t know it. And the two who are still standing won’t be for long. I want to see her smile. Make her laugh. What better time than Christmas to prove to her life is worth living? I’ll make it the best she’s ever had!

But there’s only one thing I want under the tree this year… MaryAnne. She deserves better. I’m no angel. I’ve killed. Lied. Stolen. And worse. I tell myself repeatedly to keep my distance… until I can’t. One taste and I know I’ll never walk away. MaryAnne is mine! And if she won’t listen to me, then maybe my whacky parrot can convince her. If there’s one thing the African Grey excels at, it’s talking when he shouldn’t.

WARNING: Patriot contains scenes of graphic violence and sexual content, bad language, and abuse. But it also has a happily-ever-after, a tiny feline terror, the most patient dog on the planet, and a bird who always has to have the last word.

Harley Wylde is the International Bestselling Author of the Dixie Reapers MC, Devil’s Boneyard MC, and Hades Abyss MC series.
When Harley’s writing, her motto is the hotter the better — off the charts sex, commanding men, and the women who can’t deny them. If you want men who talk dirty, are sexy as hell, and take what they want, then you’ve come to the right place. She doesn’t shy away from the dangers and nastiness in the world, bringing those realities to the pages of her books, but always gives her characters a happily-ever-after and makes sure the bad guys get what they deserve.
The times Harley isn’t writing, she’s thinking up naughty things to do to her husband, drinking copious amounts of Starbucks, and reading. She loves to read and devours a book a day, sometimes more. She’s also fond of TV shows and movies from the 1980’s, as well as paranormal shows from the 1990’s to today, even though she’d much rather be reading or writing.
