Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your latest book.

    Tender Misdemeanors by Alana Lorens

When Caryn Orlane joined the Bureau of Land Management, she never dreamed she’d fall for a man on the wrong side of the law–or that it would cost her so much. Tender Misdemeanors

    Genre romantic suspense, cop romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG

Saving the forests may be the death of them

Caryn Orlane has law enforcement in her blood; her father was a cop, and his father, too. She’s a federal agent in northwest Montana, protecting the old forests and keeping the peace.
Levi Bradshaw also believes in protecting the forests, but has a very different MO. He’s the leader of a group of eco-warriors, determined to save the trees of the Bitterroot by legal–and illegal–means.

When they meet in the woods at gunpoint, their encounter ignites a spark of interest, despite operating on opposite sides of the law. When their worlds turn on them, they only grow closer. If they don’t work together, can either survive?

    Stressing Caryn Orlane

Every heroine has a story. She has a background, a history, and a past. This interview allows us to meet a heroine and get to know her better by focusing on how she handles being relaxed, as well as how she handles stress.

Please tell me about your heroine.

    Age: 30

    Gender: female

    Birthplace: California

Profession: Law enforcement officer for the federal Bureau of Land Management in Kalispell, MT

    Ethnicity: Caucasian

What does your heroine look like?

Approximately 5’7″, shoulder-length blonde hair, green eyes, physically fit, prefers dressing casually

Who is the significant other in her life?

When we begin, it’s a green iguana named Niabi. But when she meets Levi Bradshaw at gunpoint, he becomes the one man for her.

    The Heroine’s Relaxed Side

This heroine is at a party. Considering her story, describe the party.

She’s not much of a party girl, but she agrees to help Levi host a fund-raising party to save the forests. She makes sure there’s enough food, liquor and baskets to collect donations from the cast of wealthy contributors. Levi’s home is beautiful and a great setting to remind people how much the wild is necessary even to our modern lives.

How does the heroine feel about being this particular party, and what body language is she displaying that gives it away?

Of course, at the moment, she’s in disgrace with her own Bureau department because she’s even seeing him, so she’s mostly trying to stay out of sight and not see anyone from her office. Or really anyone she knows. She’s not ashamed to be with Levi, but she’s painfully aware of the conflicting loyalties she holds.

Is she more likely to mingle or remain aloof?

Definitely aloof. SO aloof. She spends part of the night in the pantry alone with Niabi.

If she drinks, what is her drink of choice at this party?

    A glass of good wine.

How much drink is her usual?

Just enough to feel a bit warm. She values her mind and control too much to get totally wasted.

The heroine figures out where the hiding places are and then goes there. Is it to hide, to avoid someone, or to go drag a friend back to the party?

Definitely to avoid people she knows.

Is she likely to latch onto a friend and stay with him/her and ignore others, or is she the friend that others latch onto?

She’d likely hover around a few close friends–she’s no social butterfly.

If someone picked a fight at this party, how is the heroine going to handle it?

It depends. If it’s something to do with her, she’d handle it herself. If it had nothing to do with her, she’d probably stay on the fringes and watch until it got out of control. Then she’s perfectly trained to step in and take charge.

Is the heroine the one most likely to get tossed out of the party, or the one who does the tossing?

    She’d do the tossing.

Will she know when to leave, or stay late and make a nuisance of herself?

Well, she’s currently living there, so I guess she’d have to stay lateā€¦.

    The Heroine’s Stressed Out Side

How does the heroine handle it if the cops or some other authority figure pulls her aside when she was blameless in a situation?

She gets hot, fast, and argues her point until she’s out of breath, even though she’s a cop herself.

How does the heroine react to hearing a scream?

Her adrenaline would spike, and she’d be ready for action.

If she sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing that crosses her mind?

    Stopping the assault.

If she sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing she does?

Pull out her gun and stop it.

This heroine attempts to rescue someone and realizes that she is in over her head. The odds are against her and there is no way out. She is going to get her butt handed to her. What does she do?

She jumps in anyway, because she’s committed herself to making the save.

The heroine runs into the one person from her past she wanted to avoid. She can’t get out of the situation and must interact in some way. What does she do?

She’d withdraw a bit, but probably be sarcastic if she must interact with this person.

Someone younger than the heroine is in charge of the situation, and they are handling it badly, perhaps bungling things. How does the heroine deal with it?

As someone who’s had a rowdy younger sister all her life, she’d likely take over somewhat diplomatically, but practically, to achieve the correct outcome.

The heroine is in physical pain but must bear up under it and keep going. What does she tell herself in order to get through the situation?

“This can’t stop you. You’ve got to take care of yourself, and then we’re going to take care of whoever did this to you.”

What mentor’s words come to mind in a bad situation?

Her father’s. He was a cop before her, and she always wanted to please him. Unfortunately, his advice almost always comes to her in terms of how he’d be disappointed by whatever she’s done.

What lesson from her past gets her through a stressful situation?

The fact that she tried out to be FBI, but flubbed the final exams. She still went on to be an enforcement officer, and she’d survived just fine.

What one thing would you like readers to know about your heroine?

That even though she’s not warm and fuzzy, that she still has the capacity for love and longing, and she would lay her life on the life for anyone who deserves it.

Know the Heroine: Hafsah Brooks from Open to Love by Lyndell Williams @laylawriteslove #RLFblog #Interracial RomanceLyndell Williams, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your heroine, but first, tell us about Open to Love.

Open to Love by Lyndell Williams

    Genre Interracial Romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

The last thing Hafsah wants is to get wrapped up in another marriage, let alone with a younger man. Despite the desire he reawakens in her, she is not going to fall into another trap. Faheem is undisturbed by the age difference and undeterred by her doubts. He feels the passion surging between then and is determined to get her to open to love.

Know the Heroine from Open to Love

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.

It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?

Talking to her girlfriends Tariqa and Rahma chases away any boredom from Hafsah. They met in Islamic school, and have been besties ever since. If they aren’t teasing each other, they share their hopes and dreams.

What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?

Hafsah’s mother nagged her about her insatiable sweet tooth since she was little. She can’t resist and must have sugar when life gets hectic or taxing. She knows it’s not the healthiest thing to do, but when things become stressful, a cookie or cupcake hits the spot and keeps her from flying off the handle.

When her marriage was falling apart, Hafsah’s clothes got tighter from months of slamming down snack cakes. She popped one after the other in her mouth as she looked for a job. When she couldn’t fit her favorite skirt, she knew it was time to get out of the house and walk off some pounds while she could still fit through the door.

Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.

Hafsah is a Muslim woman who covers her head, so she has a ton of hijabs of different colors and patterns. Not one to leave the house shabby, she has a closet and drawer packed with hip modest fashion. She is tall and has to get ankle-length a-line or box pleated skirts custom made to drape over her long legs, which she finishes off with long-sleeve blouses. After strapping on a pair of MK shoes and slinging an LV handbag over her shoulder, she sashays her way into the world.

She reserves more revealing clothes like tight jeans with camisoles or shorts and tank tops to strut around the house, cleaning, cooking or just hanging out. She finds it funny when people ask her if she wears a hijab at home. Some have even asked if she showers in it!

Does she know how to fix things?

Hafsah does have the ability to get somethings up and running. If it can be repaired with tape, glue, a hammer or screwdriver, then she is your gal. Growing up, she watched and learned from her mother how to unclog drains, spackle holes in the wall and get any most of the small appliances in the house beeping, whirring and humming again.

She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.

As corny as it seemed to many of her friends, Hafsah always wanted to be a wife and mother. Sure, she made sure to get a college degree to be marketable and take care of herself, but settling in to take care of hearth and home was important for her.

Unlike her best friend, Tariqa, who had sworn off men, Hafsah maintained an open mind when courted by the Muslim brothers in her community. Unfortunately, nothing worked out. Years went by, and no one swept her off her feet, until Mahmoud. He was smart, sexy and smooth enough for her to accept being his second wife.

Polygny was not an alien thing in her community. She had plenty of friends who were cowives. Mahmoud had more than enough money to keep her and his first wife comfortable, and since she had fallen for him hard, she decided that she could accept plural marriage. Big mistake.

Hafsah was not prepared for the change in the way some women in the community treated her for “settling” to be wife number two. Mahmoud’s family was no help. They denied her existence, straining their usually steamy and happy relationship.

How does she act around children she doesn’t know?

Hafsah loves kids, not babies, kids. Babies scare her. She is always afraid that if she holds one, she’ll do something wrong and hurt it. They are so small and frail.

When she was around seven, one of the sisters in the community visited with her newborn. She asked and the mother let her hold the tiny bundle. All she wanted to do was see the tiny feet hidden inside. She unraveled the blanket, and the baby’s arms and legs flailed out, startling her. She jumped up, dropping baby and blanket. Fortunately, mother caught the little one.

Ever since that day, Hafsah has lots of fun with kids, and coo at babies from a safe distance.

What is she like first thing in the morning?

Hafsah rises every morning before dawn for prayer. It’s not always easy. Winter days on Long Island, NY can be cold and prickly, making her want to stay between her toasty blankets. She finds solace in making a spiritual connection with her creator, so she fights the urge to be comfy.

    Can she use chopsticks?

Hafsah’s friend Simon had taught her to use them when they were teenagers. He lived near her aunt’s house in Queens. When she visited, she would go to his house to grub down on his mom’s cooking. She loved it, but hasn’t used them since he left for law school.

Does she drink coffee? If so, how does she take it? If not, what does she drink instead?

Coffee is fine for Hafsah, but she prefers to carry around and sip water most days. When she does drink coffee, she avoids high-priced coffee chains with more milk and sugar than actual coffee. She will grab a cup at one of the small mom-and-pop cafes peppered along Montauk Highway, have a seat and sip while sliding her thumb across her cell phone.

What apps would she have on her phone?

Hafsah’s phone has the mandatory social media appsā€”Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc. Pinterest is one of her favorites. She likes to look at cooking and decorating ideas.

    Android or iPhone?

Hafsah had an iPhone, but every time she turned around, it was out of memory. She switched to Androids and never looked back.

    Earrings or unpierced ears?

Hafsah’s mother pierced her ears when she was a baby. She loves wearing gold bangles, draping her hijab so they swing from her ears.

    Tattoos or unadorned skin?

Most Muslims in Hafsah’s community frown on tattoos. She has seen a few of her more rebellious friends with them. She went with one of them to the parlor. After seeing her friend wincing under the needle, she was not inclined to ever get one.

    Personal vehicle or public transport?

It is almost impossible to get anywhere on Long Island without a car. Hafsah bought her first one when she was seventeen. She worked summers and saved her money for three years. It was old and ran on a prayer, but it was hers. Mahmoud gave her a new luxury car as a wedding gift, but nothing will purge the love for her hooptie.

    Recycle or toss?

    Recycle.

Thanks for helping us get to know your heroine!

Bucket list of Tristian Shandie from A Warlock's Secrets by Tena Stetler @TenaStetler #RLFblog #ParanormalRomance #MysteryLet’s meet Tristian Shandie from A Warlock’s Secrets, a Paranormal Romance/Mystery by Tena Stetler. Welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about A Warlock’s Secrets.

A Warlock’s Secrets by Tena Stetler

    Genre Paranormal Romance/Mystery

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

Years ago, a sacred ceremony at the Dragon’s Moon Coven turned deadly. Son of the high priestess, Tristian Shandie’s life changed forever. With a price on his head and revenge in his heart, he has no choice but to follow in his father’s footsteps to a profession shrouded in secrets. Now his skills as an enforcer for the Demon Overlord are second to none. But dangerous secrets he harbors are a liability he can no longer afford.

A chance meeting with a woman he finds irresistible flips Tristian’s world upside down. Hannah is a cyber security specialist with secrets of her own. Bad boys never appealed to her until Tristian, who changes everything. In his darkest hours, she is dragged into his magical world.

If they survive, is she strong enough to heal his heart and tame the warlock? Or will their secrets destroy them?

When someone dies, we say they “kicked the bucket.” Therefore, a list of things that a person wants to accomplish, places to go, situations to experience, and so on have become known as a “Bucket List.”

    Age: Late 30’s
    Gender: Male
    Birthplace: Ireland
    Profession: Enforcer/Assassin
    Ethnicity: Irish

Please provide a physical description of yourself.

Approximately Six feet three inches, muscular, long legs, broad chest.

Please tell us a little about yourself.

I was, I guess I still am to some extent the Enforcer/ Assassin for the Demon Overlord of the Western Hemisphere. In the last year, I have transitioned from the hands on position to managing my teams of enforcers who keep the peace between the paranormal creatures residing in the mortal world.

Who is the significant other in your life?

Hannah Shaughnessy ā€“ She’s one tough lady. Never met anyone like her. I was impressed with her at our first meeting. Hannah is a cyber security specialist with secrets of her own

If you haven’t made a bucket list before, perhaps now would be a good time. Who knows? It might inspire another book. While you’re at it, how about telling us about some of your other favorite things? Here are the questions.

    What is your birth order?

I’m the firstborn son of the high priestess of our coven. I have a younger sister, Angie, I raised after our parents were murdered.

Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.

Toy, I don’t remember. Favorite thing to play with or hone would be my magical powers.

Describe your favorite food and how it’s prepared.

I love a thin crust pizza with beef, lots of cheese and sauce.

Tell us about your best friend.

This may sound strange, but it’s my boss. Bruce. We’ve worked together for years and have had each other’s backs for most of that time. Well there was an incident or maybe a time we didn’t see eye to eye. In fact I tried to kill him. He dated and eventually married my little sister. That was a difficult situation, but in the grand scheme of things it worked out.

What are two places you would like to visit before you die, and why?

Australia ā€“ The country intrigues me. Did you know there are species of creatures (normal not talking about paranormal) found nowhere else in the mortal world? The landscape is awe inspiring. And no one knows me there.

In my line of work, I see the worst of just about all the countries in the mortal world. So not many places left for me to visit before my time is up. I own a beach house in Hawaii. I realize you mean places l’ve never been, but as I said, not many of those, only one in fact and I listed it already. So back to my beach house, it’s the only place I can relax, enjoy friends and be myself. Let my guard down, well mostly, never completely, which would be a fatal mistake.

Where is a place you would never like to return, and why?

Seventh level of Hell. Been there to deliver a prisoner, never want to go back.

Who is someone you would like to meet, and why?

Not many of these either. Garth Brooks or Jon BonJovi. I enjoy their music.

Who is someone you would like to avoid, and why?

Several of the other Demon Overlords. They, unlike Bruce, are always stirring up trouble. They let things get out of hand before addressing it. Then myself, or one of my teams are called up to terminate the situation. Know what I mean?

If you could time travel to any date, what would it be, and what would you do there?

The day my parents were murdered. I’d attempt to defuse the situation before it got so out of hand or if not possible annihilate the Demon’s responsible. We were caught of guard and by surprise. I vowed never to let that happen again. My sister deserved to have a childhood. I did the best I could, but was very strict with her in light of the death of our parents.

    About Tena Stetler

Tena Stetler is a best-selling author of award winning paranormal romance/mysteries. She has an over-active imagination, which led to writing her first vampire romance as a tween to the chagrin of her mother and delight of her friends. After many years as a paralegal, then an IT Manager, she decided to live out her dream of pursuing a publishing career. She now has eleven books published and several in the pipeline.

With the Rocky Mountains outside her window, she sits at her computer surrounded by a wide array of witches, shapeshifters, demons, faeries, and gryphons, with a Navy SEAL or two mixed in telling their tales. Her books tell stories of magical kick-ass women and mystical alpha males that dare to love them. Travel, adventure and a bit of mystery flourish in her books along with a few companion animals to round out the tales.

Colorado is home; shared with her husband of many moons, a brilliant Chow Chow, a spoiled parrot and a fifty-year-old box turtle. When she’s not writing, her time is spent kayaking, camping, hiking, biking or just relaxing in the great Colorado outdoors.

What was your biggest challenge in writing this book?

Tristian was not an easy character to write. I hadn’t planned on writing his story, but after readers and reviews clamored for his story. I delved into it. He challenged me at every turn.

Why did you choose this character for the interview today?

Because after spending so much time learning about him, he has become one of my favor characters. There are multi-facets to his personality.

When writing the book, what did you discover about this character that surprised you?

In truth, as I said above, I’d never considered writing his story. He was the Demon Overlords enforcer/assassin, for heaven’s sake (A Demon’s Witch). After delving into who he really is and what he wants, come to find out, he has a strong moral compass and when love comes his way he is fiercely protective and everything Hannah is looking for in a forever relationship.

Are any sequels planned for this book?

A Warlock’s Secrets is book two in the five, soon to be six book in the award winning Demon’s Witch Series.

What genre(s) would you like to write that you haven’t tried yet?

Cozy mystery. In fact I have one on the back burner as we speak.

What would your readers be surprised to learn about you?

Why should readers who haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?

Is there anything you’d like to say to your readers?

Read the new romance Mandraki Magic by Joanie MacNeil @ #RLFblog #NewRelease #ContemporaryRomance Joanie MacNeil, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

    Mandraki Magic by Joanie MacNeil

    Genre Contemporary romance – novella

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG

Is Jazzy’s first love the right man for her? When her first love arrives in the Old Town on the Greek Island of Rhodes, Jazzy’s peaceful existence is shattered. What is Finn’s real reason for being on the island?

Jazzy must sort through her confused emotions and make her own decisions. Can she trust him with her heart a second time?

Why did you write this book?

I wrote the story in the first half of 2019 as part of an anthology for my local romance writing group. The theme was ‘summer beach read’. I wanted to write something a little different to usual beach settings. None of the story elements was falling into place for me, until I decided, several months following a brief visit to Rhodes, to set my story there. Everything seem to come to life after that. There is so much to see in the Old Town, my visit was too short to cover it all.

The anthology project didn’t eventuate, and I decided to self-publish my novella. I’d love to revisit Rhodes again.

What is your favorite genre to read?

A range of romance, including romantic short stories, and Icelandic Noir

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

I’ve been reading ‘Ragnar JĆ³nasson’s Dark Iceland series, following the journey through life and career of one of the main characters, Ari ThĆ³r, from his days as a young policeman in northern Iceland.

What are you working on at the moment?

At the moment I’m working on a novella or two. I have two novels which I’d like to complete in the coming months. They’ve been on the go for way too long.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Later this year, I plan to republish two of my earlier novels, A Traditional Affair, and A Sense of Duty, both contemporary romances set in Scotland.

I am an Australian romance author living in Canberra, Australia’s National Capital. I write short contemporary romance novels and novellas, ranging from sweet to sexy stories about new love and second chances. I love to travel with my own romantic hero and have visited parts of the world I never dreamed I’d see.
Home, family and friends are important to me. I have blended these elements into some of my stories.
When I’m not travelling, or working on my latest project, I enjoy reading romance as well as Icelandic Noir. Though I like watching movies, I never find the time to go to the cinema. I manage to catch up on some shows on Netflix. I enjoy meeting friends for coffee, and am a regular participant in aqua aerobics.

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R

Hunter Lawe, rides the narrow line between enforcing the law and breaking it. An undercover cop, he witnesses the worst of human trafficking and drugs. But lies and betrayal are not new to him. He learned his lessons well from family and the woman who claimed to love him. There is only one thing he still believes in. Revenge.

Ruby Leigh Dupree is on the run from a past she can’t remember to a place she doesn’t know. Waking up in her car, broken and bloody, the same refrain echoes over and over in her mind. Run. Hide. Don’t look back. You’ll be safe in Spencer, Colorado. After a month in hiding in the quiet little town, her body has healed but the night terrors persist.

The first time Hunter met Ruby Leigh he turned her away when she offered him more lies. The next time, he realizes she’s his opportunity to finally get his nemesis. He’ll use her with no regrets, regardless of the cost.

When someone dies, we say they “kicked the bucket.” Therefore, a list of things that a person wants to accomplish, places to go, situations to experience, and so on have become known as a “Bucket List.”

    Species (for scifi/fantasy characters):

Please provide a physical description of yourself.

I’m 6’4″, tall by some standards. I inherited my grandfathers green eyes and black hair which I tend to wear a little longer. I like to workout, it helps burn off some of my frustration and anger, so I guess you could say I’m ripped.

Please tell us a little about yourself.

I was an undercover cop trying to bring down a sex trafficker. I trusted the wrong people and the pervert walked away. Since then every girl that has died is on my conscience. I won’t rest till I bring him down.

Who is the significant other in your life?

I’ve been betrayed more than once by women. I won’t trust again. Then Ruby stumbled into my life. The first time I sent her away. The second time I kept her for myself. I planned to use her, then she stole my heart. She doesn’t know who she is, but I do.

If you haven’t made a bucket list before, perhaps now would be a good time. Who knows? It might inspire another book. While you’re at it, how about telling us about some of your other favorite things? Here are the questions.

    What is your birth order?

I’m the younger twin. My brother Heath is nine minutes older. We have one half-sister, Miranda.

Tell us about your favorite toy as a child.

My brother and I would play cops and robbers. I always wanted to be the cop.

Describe your favorite food and how it’s prepared.

A big plate of spaghetti and meatballs. I like the sauce a little spicy with lots of Parmigiano Reggiano.

Tell us about your best friend.

When I moved back to Spencer I started my life over. That included friends. Deke is a little older and has worked for my grandfather for years. I respect the hell out of him and am proud to call him friend. I’ve become very close to Doc Gage Ewing and Owen Strong. Once you read my story you’ll understand why.

What are two places you would like to visit before you die, and why?

I’m home now, that’s the only place I want to be.

Where is a place you would never like to return, and why?

Chicago. My worst betrayal and biggest regrets happened there.

Who is someone you would like to meet, and why?

Ruby’s grandmother who raised her when her parents died.

Who is someone you would like to avoid, and why?

Can’t think of anyone by name. If I don’t like you, I don’t worry about seeing or making nice with you. I just walk away.

If you could time travel to any date, what would it be, and what would you do there?

The day I turned Ruby away. I would have listened to her.

    About Bernadette Jones

What was your biggest challenge in writing this book?

I always knew Hunter and Ruby’s story, but as the book evolved their friends kept demanding time and influence over events.

Why did you choose this character for the interview today?

Hunter always called to me because of his strength and vulnerability. I want readers to understand he was a tortured soul.

When writing the book, what did you discover about this character that surprised you?

What I didn’t realize was how lonely and isolated his anger, guilt and regret had made him.

Are any sequels planned for this book?

Yes. Gage Ewing gets his own book in April 2020. Owen Strong and Deke Ward will get their stories later this year.

The Aspen Gold Series is written by six different authors. Each of the other authors will also be releasing another book in 2020 that ties back to their first books. All the books are set in the town of Spencer, Colorado.

What genre(s) would you like to write that you haven’t tried yet?

    Paranormal and futuristic.

Why should readers who haven’t picked up one of your books before give this one a try?

My stories are about love, loyalty and friendships that get us through the tough times with an HEA. Besides, who doesn’t love a bad boy with a heart of gold?

Is there anything you’d like to say to your readers?

Take a chance on Sleepin’ Alone. Come fall in love with Hunter and his hunky friends. Thank you for taking this writing journey with me.

Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.

Very well, Gabrielle was born into a wealthy upper class family.
