Vengeance has two paths. The cult leader, the Parant, means to have his. No matter how long it takes or how many innocents die, he will kill all dragon shifters. Age: 23
Gender: Sorry, I can’t answer that. Very few people know my true gender. And if it is revealed, it would not only endanger someone I must protect, but cost me my dearest friends.
Birthplace: somewhere in the Revarn Mountains of Nerelan
Profession: bodyguard to the dragon lord, Lady Lexii Beylnea
Species (for scifi/fantasy characters): I am a true human. No one knows why but I am one of the few humans who can communicate using mindspeech with both the dragshi and their dragon halves.
What do you look like?
I have wavy dark hair that I keep cut short. Since most women of my world keep their hair long, the style helps conceal my true gender and doesn’t provide an adversary an advantage in a fight. At least if this one stray lock stops falling over my eyes. My usual dress of pants and tunic, and my slender build allows me to pass as a man.
Who is the significant other in your life?
I am promised to no man. I will tell you this. In my dreams, when I hope for release from the pledge to protect Lexii up to and including my life, the man riding beside me is Talann, son of Lady Anastasia Jessian and Lord Branin Llewlyn. But it is only a dream, Once Talann’s dragon soul twin awakes and he takes his rightful place amongst the dragshi, he will be Lexii’s mate.
Are you close to family?
Yes and no. I was orphaned when my parents were lost at sea. Although I do not see them often, there is a bond between me and my kin, Clan Miller. When I do have the opportunity to travel in their trading wagons, it is as if we have never been separated. They must have recognized something in me for they pledged me into the service of the dragshi. When I came of age, I renewed the vow to protect the Lady Lexii and to serve as friend and confident. With the vows, I in essence gained another family. While the draghsi are not of my blood, they are as close to me as any other person alive. Lady Anastasia Jessian and Lord Branin Llewlyn have always treated me as if I was their daughter.
Please tell us about your education.
One of my duties as bodyguard to a dragshi is to be able to mingle in their society. As a result I attended the same classes as Lexii, learned under the same masters. Hours were spent in the archives studying the rule of law so that I could properly serve as Lexii’s confidant when the time came for her to stand in judgement. Besides the formal training I received at the hands of the ceoltiers and the best weaponsmasters in the land, I learned the ways of my trading caravan kinsmen and traveled with them a ways so that when the time came to relinquish my duty to the dragshi, I would have the necessary skills and experience to earn my own living.
On what special skills do you rely?
As bodyguard to a dragon lord, I must be skilled with a wide variety of weapons. There are fanatics in the land who view a human who can take on dragon form as an abomination to be eliminated. I can hold my own with a master of the short sword, am very good with long bow, but is the short bow where I am the most skilled as marksman.
What is your biggest need?
For Talann’s dragon soul twin to awaken so that Talann can take his rightful place amongst the dragshi. Once he is wed to Lexii I will be freed of my oath and able to pursue my own life. I only hope that the dragon soul awakes soon for it is harder and harder to resist my feelings for Talann. And each day the fear grows that he will never ascend to his rightful heritage. An additional complication? Talann and Lexii’s souls clash. My two closest friends cannot stand to be near each other.
What would you like to tell your writer?
The world perceives me as a man and everyone knows that a real man rides a stallion. Yet you gave me a mare for my mount. Riding a female horse frequently puts me on the receiving end of comments and taunts. While I attempt to avoid conflict, it is not always possible to avoid a fight without being considered a coward. As bodyguard to a dragon lord I cannot afford to be thought of as anything other than a skilled fighter. You know my secret, the truth of my identity, yet with me riding a mare you added to my troubles. Why?

Born on a farm in the Colorado foothills and having led what can only be described as a checkered life, Lloyd Meeker can honestly say he’s grateful for all of it. Know the Hero from Wolf’s Challenge
Here are some fun questions to help us know your hero.
It’s late, he’s bored. What does he do?
Derrick loves science fiction and horror so he would probably watch an episode of the X-Files or maybe read a scary story or a comic book. He’s a closet comic book nerd.
What kind of food would he impulse buy if hungry?
He doesn’t like sweets so he would snack on some jalapeño fries or nachos with spicy chili and cheese.
Describe the kind of clothes he prefers to wear.
He’s usually well dressed for work because he’s a lawyer but truthfully, the salespeople at his favorite store pick out clothes for him and tell him what matches. He just follows directions.
Does he know how to fix things?
He can fix things around the house. His dad taught him the basics well enough that he can fix a cabinet without destroying the house.
He tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.
For a while, he tried to ignore the shifter part of himself which led to him feeling aggravated and angry at himself and everyone else. He even tried to take a substance that would put an end to his need to shift to wolf form. Luckily, it didn’t work for more than a few days. He’s regretted trying to disconnect from his wolf side ever since and vowed to never again ignore the wolf.
How does he act around children he doesn’t know?
Derrick was a father and even though his child died in a car accident, he’s still comfortable around kids. His outgoing personality helps him get to know the daughter of the woman he’s fallen for.
What is he like first thing in the morning?
Not too bad, especially if he can make the time for a run in wolf form before starting his day. A little green tea or coffee helps too.
How does he act around people who don’t know what he is?
Being a shape shifter comes with risks. People have been known to hunt shifters to either kill or study in a lab. Derrick tells only the people he can completely trust about his abilities. He’s careful to not shift anywhere he could be vulnerable.
Will he let a worker handle things or do it himself?
Derrick lost a lot of time with his young son by working so much. He came to realize the importance of making time to relax and spend time in his wolf form. He’s working on delegating more of his responsibilities with work and learning not to take on too many projects.
Earrings/piercings/tattoos or unadorned skin?
Not by choice. A brand of the letter e marks his ankle. Someone from the Equalizers, a group whose goal is to harm shifters, found Derrick unconscious after a horrible car accident. They poisoned him with a drug that makes it hard for shifters to heal completely, then burned his ankle with the letter e and ground the drug into his burn, ensuring that he would know which group was responsible for his difficulty healing.
Personal vehicle or public transport?
He drives. There aren’t a lot of public transportation options where he lives.
Recycle or toss?
Recycle. He’s all about keeping the earth as green and healthy as possible. For shifters, having wooded areas to be able to run in their animal form is important, and he knows that unpolluted land, air, and water are vital to every living thing.

A few years ago, I read my first romance novel and I was hooked, so much so that I decided to give the idea of writing a story a chance. Golden Brown hair with eyes the color of dark topaz. Haven is the epitome of a tall, broad shouldered, narrow hipped, square jawed, leanly muscled knight at arms.
Who is the significant other in his life?
Lady Genvieve Dreyfore will be come his significant other, although at the time of this interview he probably doesn’t know that.
The Hero’s Relaxed Side
This hero is at a party. Considering his story, describe the party.
Sir Haven De Sessions entered the large hall in King Edward’s castle where the celebraton was already in progress. Dancers filled the floor and muscians played rondos in the upper gallery. Edward motioned from across the room for Haven to come to his king’s side. He crossed the room as quickly as possible but the attention given him by ladies married and not delayed his progress. He was saved from committing to any assignations by Edward’s obvious displeasure at being kept waiting.
How does the hero feel about being this particular party, and what body language is he displaying that gives it away?
Haven is eager, as he always is to obet his king. However, despite his impatience with the demands of the various ladies who approach him, Haven is unfailingly courteous.He smiles and kisses their hands, and appears saddened to be forced to refuse their requests for his time. They don’t realize that his smiles are those of a man relieved to have reason to say no. The attractions of the court ladies have beguen to fade for him. He is much happier to be about the king’s business and hopes that Edward has a mission for him.
Is he more likely to mingle or remain aloof?
Were, Edward not demanding Haven come to him, the knight would mingle and be socialble. He likes women and the men are his friends. He doesn’t understand the more dour knights who are standoffish.
If he drinks, what is his drink of choice at this party?
He prefers ale, but Edward only serves the best French wines.
How much drink is his usual?
One or two mugs of beer no more than two goblets of wine.

Haven thinks hiding would be cowardly. Most likely he would be going to find a friend and bring him back to the party. He might, if the friend was drunk and becoming disorderly, Haven might try to hide his friend until the man could sober up some.

Haven is definitely the friend that others latch onto, especially the ladies.

In the king’s court, Haven would be the peace maker, and barring peace he would break up the fight as quickly and quietly as possible.
Is the hero the one most likely to get tossed out of the party, or the one who does the tossing?
Haven would do the tossing. He is almost unbearably responsible.
Will he know when to leave, or stay late and make a nuisance of himself?
Haven knows when to leave.
The Hero’s Stressed Out Side
How does the hero handle it if the cops or some other authority figure pulls him aside when he was blameless in a situation?
Depending on the exact situation, Haven would most likely defend everyone involved, doing his best to keep the authorities from over-reacting.
How does the hero react to hearing a scream?
There are different types of scream. Assuming a shout of distress, Haven would grab his weapon and run towards the scream.
If he sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing that crosses his mind?
Break this up before it gets worse. Then find out what the problem is and try to resolve it.
If he sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing he does?
He will stop the assault.
This hero attempts to rescue someone and realizes that he is in over his head. The odds are against him and there is no way out. He is going to get his butt handed to him. What does he do?
He fights on. Haven is never afraid of difficult odds. He does, however, try to prepare for all eventualities.
The hero runs into the one person from his past he wanted to avoid. He can’t get out of the situation and must interact in some way. What does he do?
He waits to discover what the other person will do.
Someone younger than the hero is in charge of the situation, and they are handling it badly, perhaps bungling things. How does the hero deal with it?
Haven will first suggest alternatives. If his advice is not heeded and the situation endangers anyone he will act to mitigate any harm.
The hero is in physical pain but must bear up under it and keep going. What does he tell himself in order to get through the situation?
That his is what he was born and trained to do as a knight.
What mentor’s words come to mind in a bad situation?
“I can only pray that God will provide, as I pray you will recognize a greater good than absolute loyalty to your king.” Gennie said these words to Haven when they disagreed over sending the Welsh away from the keep that was once their home. He often recalls these words when making a difficult decision. They help him decide where his true loyalties and responsibilities lie.
What lesson from his past gets him through a stressful situation?
While on Crusade, Haven survived only because his friend was loyal and guarded Haven’s back. Loyalty is he watchword, however, he needs Gennie’s help to learn where loyalty should truly be given.
What one thing would you like readers to know about your hero?
Despite his courtly reputation, he is very far from a True and Perfect Knight when this story begins.
