The Road to Beira, by Adam Mann

    Genre Contemporary Romance

Monique is the leader of a team who has been contracted to recruit staff for a new hotel being constructed near Mount Vanduzi in Mozambique. Her hired car won’t start after a picnic lunch on the way from Beira, but fortunately Colin is travelling the other way towards Beira and he turns around and helps Monique and her team reach the new tourist attraction.

This is not a Safari hotel, but designed to introduce visitors to the local environment and tribal customs. Monique remembers she knew Colin at their college twenty years earlier when they only saw one another as friends at a distance. Now following her recent acidic divorce she takes the opportunity to “make a play” at Colin and after their visit to Mount Vanduzi she takes him to her home in Durban. She is pleased to find that her two children quickly take to Colin.

They compensate by all four taking a safari of their own to the Nambiti Game Reserve, where they manage to find and track a rare brown hyena.

    Christmas Hope by Caroline Warfield

    Genre Historical Romance: Twentieth Century

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

After two years at the mercy of the Canadian Expeditionary force and the German war machine, Harry ran out of metaphors for death, synonyms for brown, and images of darkness. When he encounters color among the floating gardens of Amiens and life in the form a widow and her little son, hope ensnares him. Through three more long years of war and its aftermath, the hope she brings keeps Harry alive. Rosemarie Legrand’s husband left her a tiny son, no money, and a savaged reputation when he died. She struggles to simply feed the boy and has little to offer a lonely soldier, but Harry’s devotion lifts her up. The war demands all her strength and resilience, but the hope of peace and the promise of Harry’s love keep her going.

In the confusion at war’s end, will their love be enough?

Know the Hero from Christmas Hope

Here are some fun questions to help us know your hero.

It’s late, he’s bored. What does he do?

War has been described as long periods of boredom interspersed with intense excitement. Harry’s a reader, when he can find books that is his preferred escape, but it is hard when they rotate into the trenches. He used to write poetry but the war kicked it out of him.

What kind of food would he impulse buy if hungry?

He has no access to shopping, generally, but he has made friends with the fellows in the mess tent. Beans are the least disgusting army food. When he gets leave he looks for wine.

Describe the kind of clothes he prefers to wear.

Anything but khaki, but he’s worn nothing else for two years when the book starts. He longs for a good clean white shirt.

Does he know how to fix things?

He learned many skills on his grandfather’s farm so he can fix a tractor—or truck—when needed. He cares for his rifle superlatively. He can repair Rosemarie’s barque as well. His delight in these things astounds his city-dwelling father who is grooming him for the law.

He tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.

Harry is attached to the Bible his grandmother sent with him if only because it reminds him of home and better times. When a soldier put it in the mud as mean joke, Harry took it down to the Somme to clean it. He ended up dropping it in the river and had to chase it almost all the way to Amiens. (Luckily he had leave.) It is how he met Rosemarie so his accident turned into a blessing.

How does he act around children he doesn’t know?

Harry loves kids. He developed rapport with Rosemarie’s little Marcel, age two, almost immediately. Marcel hero worships him.

What is he like first thing in the morning?

Silent and brooding. He wants coffee, the stronger the better.

How does he handle things when in a “proper” social situation?

Before the war he was at university in Ottawa. His father has ambitions for Harry and made sure his training in social niceties was perfect. His manners are excellent.

Valet or takes care of himself?

He is laughing hysterically over this. Even home in Calgary he had no personal servant, but in France? In the trenches?

    Necktie/cravat or open shirt?

Neither. Army issue, buttoned to the neck, high collar, no tie.

    Sleeves buttoned or rolled up?

Buttoned. Off duty, when private, he prefers them rolled up. When he can get to Rosemarie’s cottage, he relaxes.

    Powdered wig or natural hair?

    Natural Hair

    Carriage or horseback?

He has access to neither. He walks, begs rides on the back of a wagon. When he can, he travels by boat down the Somme.

Thanks for helping us get to know your hero!

    A Saddle Creek Christmas Romance

Four close and loyal friends since childhood, now grown men, make plans to celebrate Christmas but are threatened with unforeseen perils that strike close to home. Cold snow and freezing temperatures came early in Saddle Creek, Wyoming, a small town outside Jackson Hole in the shadows of the Grand Tetons mountains but wreak havoc on all their lives. Through trials and tribulations of unexpected visitors, family members, and ghosts from the past, as well as triumphs and joys, this year would be special in so many ways, because they each find the true meaning of Christmas.

Chase is forced into protective mode, when a ghost from Lauren’s past threatens to destroy, not only their Christmas, but their lives.

    Christmas Decisions

Samantha (Sam) and Elliott’s suffer growing pains are put to the test when Sam’s newly divorced sister arrives unexpectantly five days before Christmas to lean on her baby sister.

    Christmas Surprises

Avri and Dillon’s Christmas may be ruined when Dillon has one last dangerous mission, but does he return in time for Christmas? And can Avri, once again, forgive him?

    Romantic Suspense

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

What are you working on at the moment?

What books will we see from you in coming months?

Meet Linda O’Connor @LindaOConnor98 Author of Perfectly Honest #RLFblog #RomanticComedy

http://invideo.io/Linda O’Connor, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about Perfectly Honest.

    Perfectly Honest by Linda O’Connor

    Genre Medical Romantic Comedy

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG-13

You never know where your words will take you…

When Mikaela Finn agreed to be Sam’s “fiancĂ©e” for a weekend, she probably should have told him that she’s a doctor. Sam O’Brien, aka “Dr. Eye Candy,” is trying to shed his playboy reputation and convince a small town hospital that he’s ready to settle down. But when his “fiancĂ©e” helps deliver a baby in the middle of the meet and greet, it’s a bit of a shock. If he’d known the whole truth, he might have done things a little differently because somehow his “fiancĂ©e” ends up stealing his job and his heart. Not exactly the change he wanted. Lies and deceit – it’s a match made in heaven!

Tell us about yourself as a person.

What makes you different from other people?

I write medical romantic comedies, and I’m also a physician. I have a whole left brain/right brain thing going on.

    What is your personality type?

I’m pretty calm in emergencies which helps in my work as an urgent care doctor. I’m also a good listener, and I can be tenacious. I think you have to be somewhat tenacious and a bit competitive to get into medical school (that’s an understatement). When I have a goal in mind I work steadily to achieve it.

What was your favorite childhood game?

Red Rover. I remember playing that on the school playground and loved it. Second favourite was playing hide and seek outside on a summer evening when the whole neighbourhood was our playground.

What is your favorite subject to talk about?

Unless I’m talking to other doctors I can’t really talk about medicine, so it’d have to be about writing. I could talk a lot about that. Second would be about my sons – I’m definitely a proud mom.

    What is your favorite book?

This changes, but right now I’m really enjoying and laughing out loud at David Rosenfelt’s Andy Carpenter mystery books. So funny!

    What is your favorite meal?

Indian take-out – lamb korma – doubly so since I don’t have to cook it! More time to write.

Tell us about yourself as a writer.

What made you want to be a writer?

I thought it’d be cool to weave medical advice in a novel to help people take more control of their health. My favourite books to read are romance novels with a happily ever after ending so I thought I’d start there. The thought of having a book on the shelf with my name as the author was pretty compelling.

What are your favorite reference books?

The Emotional Thesaurus by Angela Ackerman and Becca Pugilisi and How to Market a Book by Joanna Penn

When you go to a convention, what kinds of things do you take along?

Comfortable shoes, swag, business cards, my cell phone, and my laptop so I can write while I travel, credit card for shopping :D

What’s your best advice for a new writer?

Tune out all the doubts and just write.

What are your writing goals for this year?

I’m currently working on a (drumroll please) new series, Brogan Corkie Matchmaking Doctor series. My goal is to finish all four novels this year – I’m almost done number 3 – and publish one every three months staring early in 2020. Should be fun!
