Daughter of the Deepwood by Holly Bargo

Although he regrets his intended fae mate’s anger, his increasing affection and desire for his witchbreed mate surprise him.

Know the Heroine from Between the Pipes by Linda O’Connor @LindaOConnor98 #RLFblog #medical #romcom Linda O’Connor, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! We’re excited to find out more about your heroine, but first, tell us about the book.

Between the Pipes by Linda O’Connor

Genre romantic comedy, sports romance, medical romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG13

Sarah Jain is a family doctor in a hockey-crazy town. She hates hockey. She hasn’t gone anywhere near a rink in years, until her friend, the team doctor, calls in a favour. Mike Wallace is the starting goalie for the Clarington Quakes, the local professional hockey team. He’s not about to let an injury slow him down or a rookie doctor call the shots.

Sarah and Mike don’t respect each other’s jobs. When they have to work together, sparks fly and ice melts. Can they play a game they both can win?

Love on the ice doesn’t always go smoothly.

Know the Heroine from Between the Pipes

Here are some fun questions to help us know your heroine.

It’s late, she’s bored. What does she do?

She loves putting together fancy tablescapes – it’s relaxing and creative. She has over ten sets of coloured dishes and a variety of tablecloths, napkins, and napkin rings to play with.

What kind of food would she impulse buy if hungry?

She would go out of her way for a piece of turtle pie – caramel and chocolate decadence.

Describe the kind of clothes she prefers to wear.

She prefers a casual professional look – nothing flashy. She runs a mobile clinic for street youth and wants to be able to connect with them quickly. Definitely sweats or yoga pants to relax at home.

Does she know how to fix things?

Only with respect to the human body. She’s a family doctor.

She tried to do something and it went badly. Tell us about it.

Sarah tried to do a favour for her best friend and professional hockey team doctor, Dr. Danni Angelo, by covering a hockey game. However, because of a childhood trauma, stepping into a rink isn’t easy for her. She was a little green around the gills and had to push through a feeling of lightheadedness when an emergency on the ice couldn’t wait. The doctor in the rink could’ve used a doctor in the rink!

How does she act around children she doesn’t know?

She’s kind and welcoming – always smiling and encouraging.

What is she like first thing in the morning?

She wakes up alert and ready to go – from years of being on call.

Can she use chopsticks?

For table decorating: like a pro. For eating: not so much.

Does she drink coffee? If so, how does she take it? If not, what does she drink instead?

No coffee – she didn’t acquire a taste for it. She’ll have a mango and avocado smoothie instead – packs a good morning punch to get her going.

What apps would she have on her phone?

CPS (Compendium of Pharmaceuticals and Specialties), UptoDate, Mobile Banking, Grey’s Anatomy, Napkin Folding 2.0

Android or iPhone?

Earrings or unpierced ears?

Tattoos or unadorned skin?

Unadorned skin.

Personal vehicle or public transport?

Personal vehicle – and if she can drive Danni’s Porsche, she’s even happier. She’ll cycle to work in the summer and fall.

Recycle or toss?

Recycle (no question)

Thanks for helping us get to know your heroine!

New series: Derek-De Wolfes of Esterley Castle by Alexa Aston @AlexaAston #RLFblog #NewRelease #RegencyRomance Alexa Aston, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Derek (The de Wolfes of Esterley Castle Book 2) by Alexa Aston

Genre: Regency romance

Book heat level: PG-13

He loved her—and was blindsided when she wed another man…

He refused her—and now her life is no longer her own…

Lady Amelia Ward is ecstatic that her brother, the Earl of Merrifield, has just married for love. Amelia, who is in her first Season, now wants the same for herself. Though ton marriages rarely involve love, she has seen what a difference it’s made in Oliver’s life and she won’t settle for anything less—especially because she’s already in love with her new brother-in-law—who thinks her a featherbrain.

Derek de Wolfe, the new Earl of Reston, has seen his older sister, Diana, wed to Lord Merrifield. Now Derek’s ready to return to Northumberland because he has no plans to wed for several years, preferring to focus on changes he wishes to make at Esterley, his country estate. In truth, he’s running away from his growing attraction to Amelia, his new sister-in-law, whom he knows believes in love.

When Amelia decides to make Derek jealous, her plans backfire. She finds herself wed to a stranger who’s a known rake and her unhappiness grows when she realizes the kind of marriage they will have.

Will Amelia find a way to escape a union that should never have occurred and if she does, will Derek be waiting for her? Derek is Book 2 in The de Wolfes of Esterley Castle and a part of the De Wolfe Pack Connected World.

*Look for Diana (out now) and Thea (coming September 24), where Derek’s siblings find their own HEAs.

Why did you write this book?

I had been asked to write in Kathryn Le Veque’s de Wolfe Connected World and decided to do three novellas that told the stories of three de Wolfe siblings during the Regency Era. Diana was the first released (last month) and she won the heart of Lord Oliver Merrifield, a dashing, delightful man who’d won my heart (and readers)—but he hadn’t gotten an HEA of his own.

Derek is Diana’s brother, so this is his love story, full of some heartache but a very happy ending!

What is your favorite genre to read?

I enjoy reading thrillers most of all. I recently read The Chain—it’s terrifying—all the more so because I could see it easily happening.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

Elizabeth Bennet is a constant favorite for me.

What are you working on at the moment?

My St. Clairs were meant to be a trilogy, but reader response has been so great that I am writing Books 4 & 5. These two romances will finish the series and be released this fall.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

I have the last novella in this series left to go. Thea (The de Wolfes of Esterley Castle Book 3) releases September 24. While all three can be read as standalones, I think it’s fun to read all three of these novellas together. And don’t be surprised if you see a few St. Clairs pop up in this trilogy!

Read the new Sommerville Days by Vicki Batman @VickiBatman #RLFblog #smalltownromanceVicki Batman, welcome to Romance Lives Forever. I’m Kayelle Allen, author and owner of this blog. Happy to have you here! Please tell us about your book.

Sommerville days by Vicki Batman

Genre: small town romance

Book heat level (based on movie ratings): PG

Love blossoms in the small town of Sommerville in these heartwarming tales, filled with fun and forever possibilities.

Store Wars: The competition is heating up when Janie’s old flame returns to town and is running his family’s store. Could following dreams break her heart?

Raving Beauty: What if the love of your life was in front of you all along?

San Diego or Bust: When a young woman plans a romantic getaway with her boyfriend, disaster strikes—is her Mr. Right the right Mr. Right?

Do you write more than one genre? If so, what are they?…

Not technically. Even though I classified the stories in Sommerville days as small town romance, they are also romantic comedies. I write romantic comedy mysteries, too.

How do you come up with ideas?…

Lordy, stuff just smacks me sometimes, especially when people say crazy things. Once, I answered a question for an author interview–“what are two things no one knows about you.” And the answer/confession? I was Miss Oak Lawn Moped.

Way back when, my college friend owned a moped shop. We went to a party with my roommate, and after a few margaritas, he asked me to represent his store in a beauty contest. I blame the margaritas. I was weak and said yes.

So, when two writer friends saw my answer about being Miss Oak Lawn Moped, they said I should write a story which I did and titled it “Raving Beauty.”

BTW, the other answer? I am in a music video. LOLOL. I used to tell the boys I bet none of their moms were in a music video.

What is the single most important part of writing for you?…

Just writing. I have too much fun making up stuff.

When did you write your first book?…

My first book, Temporarily Employed, was started in the spring of 2003. I’d been traveling with girlfriends, and on the way home, one wanted to play car games to break the monotony. Mostly, we had to answer crazy questions, for example, pick one—Tom Jones or Englebert Humperdink. Then, she asked, “Write the opening paragraph of a book using the word window?”

My friend knew I had an urge to write. But to answer her question? I had nothing as I was fearful I would sound stupid. I got the okay to send an email with my answer. Her question bugged me. One day, I sat down and wrote eight chapters. I showed my friend who told me to keep going. I did.

Leather or lace? Leather handbags

Black or red? I love red but wear black.

Satin sheets or smooth cotton? Cotton

Ocean or mountains? Mountains

City life or country life? City life!

Party life or evening at home? Evening at home

Dogs or cats? Both!
