Welcome to Destiny, or should I say Middle Earth…
I’m Sheriff Jack Lang. After an exciting career as a Navy pilot, Destiny seemed like the perfect place to settle down – safe, sane and secure. But that ship sailed when I met Tempest Pomeroy – sexy redheaded mail lady and trouble magnet. Tempe never fails to test the limits of my patience or the law. My brother’s genie bottle is missing, my mother’s AWOL, and the sheriff and my ex-lover are squaring off like yard dogs staking a claim over a poodle. I am no one’s poodle. I’ve denied my heritage for most of my life but all this chaos is a sign of my quickening Tempestaerie power.
Oh, and the sheriff? He thinks he’s settled in a normal, quaint small town—like Mayberry?! We’ll see how that turns out… Things better settle down soon, ’cause I’m about to go…Storm Crazy.

What does your heroine look like?
Tempe is tan and fit, a redhead with rainbow streaks in her hair. Her eyes are sunny blue until she gets her weather dander up then they go stormy.
Who is the significant other in her life?
Jack Lang, is becoming her significant other, but he hasn’t seen her wild side yet.
The Heroine’s Relaxed Side
This heroine is at a party. Considering her story, describe the party.
The is being given by Jane Fortune, Destiny’s gossip columnist and 900 Psychic. It’s a ploy to get new fodder for her column.
How does the heroine feel about being this particular party, and what body language is she displaying that gives it away?
Tempe did not want to be at Jane’s party so when Jane starts asking her about the dead body she found at the clubhouse, sparks fly from her fingertips.
Is she more likely to mingle or remain aloof?
Tempe isn’t really a mingler. She and her brother were abandoned by their parents when she was ten so she tends to stay to herself.
If she drinks, what is her drink of choice at this party?
She’d love a shot of tequila but she learned her lesson – twice – this week, that Tempestaerie elements and alcohol don’t mix.
How much drink is her usual?
Ha! less than one is plenty to get her in trouble.
The heroine figures out where the hiding places are and then goes there. Is it to hide, to avoid someone, or to go drag a friend back to the party?
To avoid someone, this time the hostess.
Is she likely to latch onto a friend and stay with him/her and ignore others, or is she the friend that others latch onto?
Tempe would find Montana her bigger than life intimidating warrior friend to hang out with.
If someone picked a fight at this party, how is the heroine going to handle it?
It depends on whether they are human or a supernatural since letting others see you use your powers is a no-no. But most likely Tempe would toss a lightning bolt at them, or call up a gust of wind to distract them.
Is the heroine the one most likely to get tossed out of the party, or the one who does the tossing?
Tempe’s a trouble magnet but not the kind to get thrown out. People understand why she’s having trouble
Will she know when to leave, or stay late and make a nuisance of herself?
LOL, she’ll be looking for the first opportunity to get away.
The Heroine’s Stressed Out Side
How does the heroine handle it if the cops or some other authority figure pulls her aside when she was blameless in a situation?
This happened and it didn’t go well. The sheriff didn’t believe her when she said she stepped over the dead body to steal her brother’s genie bottle from the locker. Ooops.
If she sees someone being assaulted, what is the FIRST thing she does?
Tempe wouldn’t hesitate to jump in and help.
This heroine attempts to rescue someone and realizes that she is in over her head. The odds are against her and there is no way out. She is going to get her butt handed to her. What does she do?
She’d fake it, pretend she was winning until she could gain an advantage, or outlast them.
The heroine runs into the one person from her past she wanted to avoid. She can’t get out of the situation and must interact in some way. What does she do?
Something she didn’t want to do after having a shot of tequila. She kisses him.
Someone younger than the heroine is in charge of the situation, and they are handling it badly, perhaps bungling things. How does the heroine deal with it?
She raised her brother so she understands the mistakes young people make and would try to help them without making them feel like she’s taking over.
The heroine is in physical pain but must bear up under it and keep going. What does she tell herself in order to get through the situation?
Pain is just a state of mind. Deny, deny, deny.
What mentor’s words come to mind in a bad situation?
“Whatever you do, stay calm. You’re about to go through your quickening.”
What lesson from her past gets her through a stressful situation?
Even when things seemed hopeless and there was no one to turn to she managed to get herself and her little brother through a bad time and they came out okay.
What one thing would you like readers to know about your heroine?
Tempe’s like most of us, she’s just trying to protect the ones she loves and do the right thing but somehow things just keep happening and that dang sheriff keeps showing up at the worst possible time.

Why did you write this book?
I thought it would be fun to write a hero who doesn’t fit the romance novel ideal of big, take-charge and brooding. Gary is small, cute, and smiles all the time…just like the father I grew up with.
What is your favorite genre to read?
Contemporary romance and romantic suspense. I also love a well-done paranormal.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
Eve Dallas of the ‘In Death’ series. Without a doubt.
What are you working on at the moment?
I just finished ‘Ruby’, a Smoky Blues novella reuniting Lexi Barstow and Senator Collins Wentworth. They are my first foray into a love story involving characters with Medicare cards in their wallets.
What books will we see from you in coming months?

Yes. I have a full-time job and two school-age kids, so I have to squeeze in writing sessions when I can – even late at night.

Yes, but only small stuff. For example, I had to find out if people in North Dakota call it “soda” or “pop,” what could cause a car to suddenly break down, and the distance between various locations in the Dakota states.

No. All humans.
this book has more than one genre?
No. It’s a straight-up Christian romance.
you speak more than one language?
No. I did take four years of Spanish in high school and two semesters in college, but that was a while ago and I’ve not put it to use.
you grew up where you live now?
Yes. I moved away for several years, but just last year I moved back and bought a house in the same city where I grew up.
you love to read?
Yes, but I don’t have a lot of time to do so and it takes a while for me to get sucked into a book. Once I am, I can’t put it down!
you are never late?
Well … I used to be overly punctual. Now that I have kids, I’m typically just on time (if I’m lucky!).

Yes!

No. Never had it and never want to. I’m not very adventurous and I don’t like seafood of any kind.

No, I have three published books and a fourth will be released in April.
This book is part of a series?
Yes. This is Book #2 in the Southern Hearts series under the Southern Roads Kindle World (it’s a standalone, with an HEA, though). The first book is Baby, Count on Me, which tells the story of Amethyst’s cousin, Beau. He’s still carrying a torch for his first love – his college sweetheart, Jenna. Beau is stunned when Jenna unexpectedly shows up in his small town, but he’s pretty sure it’s a bad idea to risk his heart again.
You lost sleep while writing this book?
I did, but I lose sleep when I’m writing all of my books. I keep turning plots over and over in my head….
You did research for this book?
Yes. In addition to the romance element, there’s a ghost and a lost treasure from the Civil War in the book, as well as a setting in the Underground Railroad.
Some characters in this book are not human? (pets for example)
This book has a few ghosts in it, as well as Amethyst’s black cat, Boo.
This book has more than one genre?
Kinda sorta. Baby, That’s the Spirit! is a contemporary romance with some paranormal elements (hence, the word “spirit” in the title!).
You speak more than one language?
I had three years of German in high school and can only remember about 20 words now. So, not really…
You grew up where you live now?
No, I grew up in Florida, but now I live in Georgia.
You love to read?
Yes, in fact that’s one of the things I miss most about being an author. I don’t read as much as I used to because I’m always writing.
You are never late?
My Handsome Prince wishes that I was on time, but I have to admit to usually being on either right on the nose or a teensy bit late for most things (I’m always trying to get one more word on my manuscript…)
You love pizza?
I do! Especially Hawaiian pizza (Canadian bacon and pineapple on top. Yum!)
You love sushi?
Not really, but I can get by with California Rolls in a pinch.
You have a pet?
Yes, I’m owned by a black cat named Boo. He’s the inspiration (and namesake) for Amethyst’s cat in Baby, That’s the Spirit!.

Why did you write this book?
There were two characters with cameos in the first two books of The Dante’s Purgatory Series, who became so intriguing to me, that I just had to write their story next. Trixie is a tiny woman with a larger-than-life personality. She has a hysterical sense of humour and is—as she described herself in the book—”approximately three quarters crazy, about seventy-five percent of the time.” I knew matching her up with the big, scary, silent and brooding, Xavier, would lead to extremely interesting things.
What is your favorite genre to read?

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
That’s such a hard question to answer. There are so many characters I’ve admired/fallen in love with over the years. Hmmm…I think I’ll go with one who’s fresh in my mind because I’ve read the book recently. And that is Malkom Slaine from Demon From The Dark by Kresley Cole. He’s a vampire. He’s a demon. He’s the scariest “vemon” around. And he has a heart of gold. LOVE!!
What are you working on at the moment?
I’m working on the second book in my upcoming paranormal (vampire) romance series.
What books will we see from you in coming months?
The first book in my paranormal series will be released in the next couple of months. It’s a hilarious look at the lives of a blood bank scientist and her newbie vampire boyfriend who has serious control issues. If someone told a young Sayara St Clair that one day she would be an erotic/paranormal-romance-writing Aussie expat living in Thailand, she would have snort-laughed and yelled, “You. Be. Crazy!”
If someone told her the same thing now, she would not yell, only nod solemnly. Because that actually happened.
Sayara has a science degree, with majors in both microbiology and biochemistry. Working in the fields of serology and tissue banking, she got to do lots of cool and sometimes slightly weird stuff. She was employed as the manager/buyer for furniture retail stores, where she had a chance to unleash her inner interior decorator. (Interior design is one of her great passions.) And for a time, she taught English to students in Asia. (Hanging about in a roomful of extremely loud, pint-sized humans is not one of her great passions.) She has written: ads for TV, print and radio; real estate brochures; website copy; and a screenplay. Now she’s writing fiction and has discovered it’s her favorite thing to do. She’s also learned that writing sultry romances is so much more fun than writing dry old scientific journal articles. No one has sex in scientific journal articles. Not the ones she wrote anyway.
When not writing, she may be most commonly found in a horizontal position reading, in the kitchen baking, in the garden planting, or somewhere else singing at the top of her lungs. She loves music and is prone to spontaneous bouts of dancing.
With regards to vampires and chocolate: she bites one on a daily basis and has had a lifelong obsession with the other. And she’s not telling which one’s which.
