    Unnatural Allies (Shifting Alliances 2) Shari Elder @sharielderbooks #RLFblog #PNR #romance

Welcome Shari Elder author of Unnatural Allies, a new Paranormal Romance.

Why did you write this book?

Last year, Evernight published my novel, Shifter Trials. Although I had not planned for it to be part of a series, two of the secondary characters in the book—the wolf beta and heroine’s best friend, and a rat alpha – started bucking for their own story. Then I fell in love with the idea of a love story between a rat and a wolf. I like to push at rules, and this story definitely does that.

What is your favorite genre to read?

I love science fiction, fantasy and paranormal stories, romance and non-romance. I just love to see how writers create new worlds, new rules of engagement, new species, and new cultures. It’s why I write them as well. I also love mysteries. Like romances with their HEAs, mysteries have to tie up the story by the end as well.

Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?

I have to share two, because I always like to have to have a male and a female. The first is Samwise Gamgee from Lord of the Rings. He’s not the hero, yet the final victory (and happy ending) would not have succeeded without him. He’s the best friend, the sidekick, the shadow, on which the hero’s success ultimately rests. He’s a unique character, often overlooked, because his evolution is to become his best self, beyond what he thought he could be. And he gets the girl in the end.

The second is Ms.Jane Marple, because I adore the quiet, older character that everyone ignores. Yet it she who sees and hears everything, and ultimately is the only one who can figure it out. Reliable, loyal and kind, with depth and intelligence that comes out quietly in the acts of day to day life. Like Sam.

What are you working on at the moment?

I am working on a science fiction romance novel called the Scent of Memory, which is book 2 in my Green Rising Series. In this novel, a rebel computer genius is reunited with her fiancée, who she believed to be dead from a mining accident. Instead, he was rebuilt as a cyborg and had his memories wiped.

What books will we see from you in coming months?

In addition, to the Scent of Memory, I am also working on book 3 in Shifting Alliances, where shifters continue their battle against the fae (see blurb below). In this novel, a cougar shifter and a fae man find love. I also plan to write a holiday hannukah story.

Please tell us about your latest book.

    Genre: Paranormal Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
    A World in Transition

Violent fae encroachment on shifter land is heating up. With death tolls rising, the impossible becomes necessary – an alliance among predator and prey shifters.

    An Inconceivable Love

Nicca Baron, lone wolf and wolf clan beta, finds herself under the command of Evan Grant, the rat alpha. In different circumstances, he’d be dinner. Or so her wolf keeps reminding her. Evan proves to be a perceptive leader, a skilled fighter and irresistible to her lonely heart.

To rule the rats, you have to rule the pack. Evan is a whiz at managing people and groups. Until he finds himself leading a mission made up of every single large animal that thrives on rat flesh. And not the kind between his legs. The only bright light is Nicca. Her storm gray eyes miss nothing, her brilliant mind comprehends everything and her succulent curves offer the perfect place for a rat to nestle.

    An Impossible Future

In each other’s arms, Nicca and Evan discover love and a new perspective in an off-kilter world. But a wolf cannot mate with a rat, no matter the strength of the human attraction.

Hello, I’m Shari. By day, I crawl out of bed, mainline coffee, walk the dog, get my kid off to school, hop on the metro, and save cities within the four walls of my office. Usually by email.

At night, the other Shari emerges. I take off the suit, curl up on the couch and let my imagination play, with words and images until stories take shape (while periodically checking on my teen-ager, hiding out in the bedroom and plotting world domination with her furry minions). As my alter ego, I save cities in a cape and spangled tights, wander space and time on a surfboard, fly over the Himalayas on feathered wings, make six-toed footprints in indigo talc snow on the sixth planet in the Andromeda galaxy or eavesdrop on Olympian gods while pretending to whip up a bowl of ambrosia. In all these wondrous worlds, romance and passion blossom. I can’t resist a happy ending. And I am particularly prone to writing happy endings for those who have given up on ever getting one.

Words and Dreams by Laura Strickland #RLFblog #historicalromance

Welcome Laura Strickland author of Words and Dreams, a new Historical
    Romance.
    Why did you write
    this book?
This book is part of a series that began with The Wild Rose
Press’s “Lobster Cove” project. I wrote the first book, “The
White Gull” and the second, “Forged By Love” as parts of that
fun series. “Forged By Love” won the International Digital Award for
short historical romance, and readers fell in love with a secondary character,
Dorothea Sinclair. This book, “Words and Dreams” tells Dorothea’s
    story.
    What is your favorite
    genre to read?
Must I choose one? I love humorous fantasy, which includes
    Steampunk Romance.
    Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?
Granny Weatherwax from Sir Terry Pratchett’s Discworld
    series.
    What are you working
    on at the moment?
Right now I’m working on writing book six of my Buffalo
Steampunk Adventure series, which will be called “Tough Prospect: A
Buffalo Steampunk Adventure” (and I’m loving it!)
    What books will we see
    from you in coming months?
My next book, which will be released on June 16, 2017, is
book five of my Steampunk series, and is called “Steel Kisses: A Buffalo
    Steampunk Adventure”.
    Please tell us about
    your latest book.
    Genre Historical Romance
Book heat level (based on movie ratings):PG
Dorothea Sinclair has left her small home town in Maine and
come to Boston to begin a career as a newspaper reporter. But so far her job on
the Guardian has proved disappointing. More skivvy than reporter, she’s even
been subjected to a humiliating proposition from the chief editor’s son. She
needs a break but never expects it might come from a chance meeting with an
    Irish ruffian.
There’s a great deal of injustice in Boston, and O’Hare,
embroiled in his fight for equality on behalf of Boston’s Irish, is well aware
of it. When he rescues Dorothea’s hat on the waterfront, he’s surprised to
learn she’s a reporter. And when she offers him the opportunity to state his
case in the Guardian, what can he do but accept? It’s the perfect chance to put
his dreams into his own words—and the only sure way to see her again.

Famous in a Small Town by Kristina Knight @AuthorKristina #RLFblog #contemporary

Welcome Kristina Knight author of Famous in a Small Town, a
    new Contemporary Romance.
    Why did you write
    this book?
Famous in a Small Town is the first book in my new small
town series, set in the fictional town of Slippery Rock, Missouri. I wanted to
write about the kind of place where I grew up. I had this idea about what might
happen to a few hometown football heroes, who were now back in their small town
and figuring out what was next for them. And that’s where the characters
basically took over. I’m so excited for this series, not just because of the
location (a small lake town in Missouri) but because the characters are so real
to me. I hope readers fall in love with them, like I did.
    What is your favorite
    genre to read?
    I don’t know that I have a favorite, although I probably
read contemporary romances more than any other. But I love cozy mysteries,
historicals, and I’ve found a renewed interest in memoirs the past few months.
So, I guess my favorite genre is whatever I happen to be reading at this moment
(and right now I’m reading a memoir and a contemporary at the same time!).
    Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?
There are so many! I adore Mr. Darcy, and I have serious
feelings for Inigo from The Princess
    Bride
, and I can’t leave out Justin from Diana Palmer’s Long, Tall Texans series. . .I think my
favorite, though, is Jo from Little
    Women.
I always thought I was a little like her – a little too bookish, a
little tomboyish, a little sarcastic. Although she does speak her mind much
more often than I ever have. Hmm, maybe I need to be more like Jo!
    What are you working
    on at the moment?
I’m finishing up book 4 in the Slippery Rock series, Levi
and Camden’s book, and I’ll start on a novella for the series in another couple
of weeks – yay, more Slippery Rock books!
    What books will we see
    from you in coming months?
You’re going to see all the Slippery Rock books! Famous is
the first, and stars Collin Tyler and Savannah Walters. Then in July book two
releases, Rebel in a Small Town, featuring Slippery Rock’s acting sheriff,
James Calhoun and Mara Tyler (Collin’s sister). Then, in September, book 3
releases, Breakup in a Small Town. Book 3 features married-but-on-the-rocks
Adam and Jenny. And then, in December, you’ll get book 4, featuring Levi
Walters (Savannah’s older brother) and Camden Harris, a new arrival to town.
And, I don’t have a release date or a title yet, but Aiden, Adam’s twin, will
get his own novella some time in the fall. He’ll be paired up with Savannah’s
    wedding planner. Julia Colson.
    Please tell us about
    your latest book.
Famous in a Small Town is a contemporary romance with a
friends-to-lovers theme. Savannah is Collin’s best friend’s sister, and is
running from a bit of a scandal. Collin has never run from anything in his
life, so he doesn’t understand A) why Savannah’s back in town or B) why he can’t
stop thinking about a woman he knows won’t be staying around for long. He is
rooted very deeply in Slippery Rock, but he can’t stay away from Savannah….
Book heat level (based on movie ratings): R
Forced to leave Nashville after a scandal, Savannah Walters
has come home to Slippery Rock, Missouri, with a bruised ego and her singing
career in jeopardy. As if that isn’t humiliating enough, on her way into town
she’s rescued by her swoon-worthy childhood crush, Collin Tyler.
His hands are full running the family orchard and dealing
with his delinquent teen sister, so Collin doesn’t need to get involved with
someone as fiery and unpredictable as Savannah. But the intense attraction
between them can’t be denied. And when disaster strikes, they’ll both be
surprised by who’s still standing when the dust settles.
