    A Villain for Vanessa a new #RomanticSuspense by @AliceOrrBooks #RLFblog

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.

    About the Author

She’s been a workshop leader, book editor and literary agent. Now she lives her dream of writing full-time. So far she’s published fifteen novels, three novellas and a memoir – both traditionally and independently. Alice wrote her nonfiction book, No More Rejections: 50 Secrets to Writing a Manuscript that Sells, as a gift to the writers’ community. A revised edition is now in progress. Amazon says, “This book has it all.” And calls her novels, “Delicious well written suspense spiced with a love story.” Most of all, Alice is thrilled to hear from readers. Visit her website at http://www.aliceorrbooks.com. Alice has two grown children and two perfect grandchildren and lives with her husband Jonathan in New York City.

    Interview with Alice Orr

Why did you write this book?
I’m fascinated by complicated families. You might call them messed-up families. I come from one. Many people I know come from one. The Kalli family is central to my Riverton Road series. They are definitely complicated, but they aren’t what I’d call messed-up because they’re all about love and loyalty. Vanessa (the heroine of A Villain for Vanessa) is a Kalli on one side, but she’s a Westerlo on the other. The Westerlo family is a mess in some pretty bizarre, maybe even evil ways. There’s been a murder in their midst after all. I wanted to find out how Vanessa would deal with being thrust into such a situation. Plus how she’d handle the added confusion of falling in love at the same time. Something similar once happened to me, minus the murder. Vanessa copes better than I did. Creating her and her story was my do-over opportunity.
What is your favorite genre to read?
My Suspense love affair began very innocently with reading Nancy Drew by flashlight under the covers. I’ve been a late-night reader ever since, and danger has always felt like the natural companion for darkness. The stakes are much higher in the stories I read now than they were for Nancy Drew. I also like a love story in the mix these days. Life or death? Happiness or heartbreak? That’s what keeps me turning pages, with or without a flashlight.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
She comes from the romantic side of my bookshelf. Though there’s suspense in her story and a lot at stake too. My favorite character is, and probably always will be, Katie Scarlett O’Hara. I have no excuse for it. I know she’s a bad girl. She’s selfish and willful. She’s a liar and a man-thief. She’s also strong and determined, and she refuses to give up no matter what obstacles are stacked in her path. Not even those dirty Yankees can stop her. I love her fire and her courage most of all. Like I said, I know she’s a bad girl. But I’ve heard that good girls go to heaven while bad girls go everywhere. Maybe I just want to go everywhere, or at least imagine I have.
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I’ve begun to write Book 5 of my Riverton Road Romantic Suspense series. It’s called A Time for Fear and Feasting. In Book 3, I introduced a second Riverton family, the Millers of Miller’s Inn. Amanda is the middle daughter of that family. The solid, dependable daughter. Even through almost five years of widowhood, she could always be counted on as the chef at the Inn kitchen who never caused any personal heat for anybody. Now she’s ready to break away from all of that, especially from being taken for granted. A friend in serious danger gives Amanda one reason to explode out of the expected. An irresistible man named Jack gives her another.

A Villain for Vanessa by Alice Orr
A story of tangled roots and tormented love.
Two families are shaken to their roots. Vanessa Westerlo must find her roots. Bobby Rizzo is torn between Vanessa and his true roots. They are all tormented by love – past and too present. Meanwhile a man has been murdered. And that’s the most tormented tangle of all.
Alice Orr is known for “Delicious well written suspense spiced with a love story.”
She does it again in A Villain for Vanessa.
A Villain for Vanessa is Book 4 of the Riverton Road Romantic Suspense series set in Riverton, New York. This book features the Kalli family and the fortunate people who find safety and welcome at the Kalli homestead on Riverton Road. A Wrong Way Home is Book 1 of the series and A Year of Summer Shadows is Book 2. A Vacancy at the Inn is Book 3 and introduces the Miller family of Riverton Road Hill.

    It’s In His Smile a new #contemporary romance by @ShellyCAlexande #RLFblog

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.

    About the Author

A 2014 Golden Heart® finalist, Shelly Alexander grew up traveling the world, earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing, and worked in the business world for twenty-five years. With four older brothers, she watched every Star Trek episode ever made, joined the softball team instead of ballet class, and played with G.I. Joes while the Barbie Corvette stayed tucked in the closet. When she had three sons of her own, she decided to escape her male-dominated world by reading romance novels and has been hooked ever since. Now, she spends her days writing steamy contemporary romances while tending to a miniature schnauzer named Omer, a tiny toy poodle named Mozart, and a pet boa named Zeus.

    Interview with Shelly Alexander

Why did you write this book?
I wanted to continue the Red River series. The books can be read as standalones, but there were a few secondary characters that made an appearance in the first two books, and I felt their stories needed to be told. So Miranda Cruz, Red River’s favorite waitress, was up next.
Having lived in a small town myself, I think there is an interesting dynamic between the people who choose to stay in a small town and the people who choose to leave. I left, but I keep in touch with many of my friends and family that still live in that small town. It’s always a fascinating dynamic when we get together.
I wanted to explore that in this book. Miranda had reasons for never leaving Red River. The hero, Talmadge, had reasons for leaving. So how to make the two worlds work together became the question in this story.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I love contemporaries, which is why I write them. But I also love historicals, suspense, and on occasion I read a paranormal.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I absolutely love Darynda Jones’s character, Reyes Farrow. I mean, who can’t fall in love with the hot as hell son of Satan whose turned against his father for love of a woman?
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I’ve got two projects in the works right now. I’ve started a new small town series set on the Oregon/Washington coast. Small town contemporaries are where my heart is, so I’ll probably always have one of those in progress.
BUT…although my small town contemporaries are both sweet and very steamy, they aren’t considered erotic romance.
SO…I’m also working on my very first erotic romance, which I hope will release this fall.
Please tell us about your latest book.
She’s risking it all on a dream career… until his smile convinces her to risk her heart on love.
Miranda Cruz isn’t just the best darned waitress in town anymore; she’s Red River’s newest innkeeper. All she has to do is renovate the inn, find the contractor that has disappeared with her life’s savings, and prove that she is the respectable business owner she’s always dreamed of being. Easy, right? Especially for the intelligent Miss Cruz who never depends on anyone, including a man. Until a gorgeous old flame shows up and reignites a fire that has been simmering for seven long years and could send her dreams up in smoke.
Acclaimed environmental architect, Talmadge Oaks, returns home to Red River to settle family business. He plans to get in and get out as quickly as possible because a professional catastrophe is waiting for him back in the Pacific Northwest. When an unforeseen snag keeps him in Red River longer than expected, he finds himself entangled with the floundering renovations of his late grandmother’s old Victorian inn. Handy with a hammer, Talmadge offers to help the inn’s beautiful new owner, but his motives aren’t completely selfless. Will his secret demolish everything they are building? Or will their undeniable passion and love be enough to hold them together?

The Cotillion Ball Saga Books 7-9 a new #historical bundle by @BeckyLower1 #RLFblog

This quick interview includes info about the author, and introduces the story.

    About the Author

Amazon best-selling author Becky Lower has traveled the country looking for great settings for her novels. She loves to write about two people finding each other and falling in love, amid the backdrop of a great setting, be it on a covered wagon headed west or in present day small town America.  Historical and contemporary romances are her specialty. Becky is a PAN member of RWA and is a member of the Historic and Contemporary RWA chapters. She has a degree in English and Journalism from Bowling Green State University, and lives in an eclectic college town in Ohio with her puppy-mill rescue dog, Mary. She loves to hear from her readers.

    Interview with Becky Lower

Why did you write this book?
The entire Cotillion Ball series combines my love of American history with my love of large families. It’s set in the decade leading up to the Civil War, when America was experiencing a lot of firsts and was an exciting period in our history. Even though this new bundle contains the last three books in the series, they can all be read as stand-alones.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I’m pretty much a tried and true romance reader, but I am branching out slowly, into cozy mysteries and some YA books, especially if they’re historical.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I’d have to say Laura Ingalls Wilder, although she was not fictitious. But when I was a girl, reading her lively books, seeing the world through Laura’s eyes, I was right alongside her. It wasn’t until years later I realized she was an actual person.
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
I have a contemporary Christmas novella that will be published later this year, and another American historical, set in southern Ohio and based, in part, on some family lore, which has been contracted for, but I don’t have a release date yet. I just finished a flash first draft of a YA historical, my first time attempting that genre. My heroine is eleven when the Boston Tea Party happens.
Please tell us about your latest book.
Although the Civil War is over, it doesn’t signal the end of fighting for the Fitzpatrick family, as the younger siblings come of age to chase their dreams and discover the power of finding the right partners. The tumultuous conclusion to the Cotillion Ball Saga proves that all’s fair in love and war. This bundle contains Expressly Yours, Samantha, A Widow’s Salvation and The Forgotten Debutante.

Knights of Stone: Bryce a new #pnr by @lisacbooks #RLFblog

USA Today bestselling author Lisa Carlisle loves stories with dark, brooding heroes and independent heroines. She’s honored to be a multi-published author writing in different genres since she’s wanted to be a writer since the sixth grade.  For much of her professional career, she’s written non-fiction — but she’s discovered writing romance is the most fun. Her romances have been named Top Picks at Night Owl Reviews and All Romance Ebooks.
When she was younger, she worked in a variety of jobs, moving to various countries. She was deployed to Okinawa, Japan, while in the military; backpacked alone through Europe;  and lived in Paris before returning to the U.S. She owned a bookstore for a few years as she loves to read. She’s now married to a fantastic man, and they have two kids, two kittens, and too many fish.

    Interview with Lisa Carlisle

Why did you write this book?
I’ve always had a thing for gargoyles. I envisioned writing a story about five statues; the story begins when one begins to move. That story bloomed into a much larger world—one on a mystical Scottish island with five gargoyle shifter brothers. I wrote the first book, Knights of Stone: Mason, and was thrilled and surprised when readers asked for more. Of course, I was happy to comply and ideas began spinning for each brother. Bryce is the second oldest brother and the beta of the gargoyle clan. He’s content as his role as second—until he meets Mairi and his entire world changes.
What is your favorite genre to read?
I enjoy reading romance, mysteries, and nonfiction, but the last year I’ve read many shifter romances.
Who is your favorite character from fiction (not including your own)?
I’m drawn to dark, brooding characters, like Heathcliff in Wuthering Heights, or Snape in the Harry Potter books.
What are you working on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?
For 2016, my main focus is on stories for each brother in the Knights of Stone, but I’m also working on other paranormal and military romances. I’m also in three upcoming, multi-author boxed sets.
Please tell us about your latest book.
What happens when love interferes with plans, during the most unfortunate of times?
Gargoyle shifter, and the last of her clan, Mairi, is running for her life, desperate to keep hidden. When she spots two winged creatures flying high above her in the Highlands of Scotland, she momentarily panics, thinking they’re the same beasts who murdered her family along with her entire clan. Realizing they’re gargoyles like her, she takes flight and discreetly follows them to an island.
Bryce, beta of his clan and drummer for the Knights of Stone, senses something is amiss on the Isle of Stone. At first, he believes he’s merely discomfited by the rumors of atrocities occurring in the Highlands. However, he discovers an intruder on the magically-concealed island home. Once he ascertains that the flame-haired beauty is the sole survivor of a traumatizing attack, he returns to the Highlands to warn his former clan.
Somewhere between cautioning the clan and realizing the necessity of destroying the beasts that threaten them all, Mairi and Bryce discover an attraction that quickly evolves into a consuming passion. A problem even greater than the murderous fiends becomes apparent – the love they share may not survive the battle.

For a unique shifter romance series with hot men in kilts, read about the brothers in the Knights of Stone today!
