the story.About the AuthorI live in Canberra, Australia and I’ve spent my professional life
writing legal advice – which some may say is similar to creative writing – but
the lack of sexy heroes and happy endings have led me writing romance. I have
placed in the finals of Romance Writers of Australia writing contests, winning
the Emerald Short Award in 2014. I love Earl Grey tea, talking about which of Jane Austen’s novels is
my favourite, and searching for the perfect frock. I will read anything, but
love romance most of all.Interview with Justine LewisWhy did you write this
book?I write
escapist romance and, without consciously meaning to, my books often feature
celebrities. The idea for Acting the Part came when I wondered about the
children of celebrities and what it must be like to have super famous parents.
That’s where Persephone Greenwood aka Poppy came from. Her mother is a
beautiful actress with depression and substance abuse problems, but Poppy loves
her unconditionally and will do anything to help her overcome her addiction.
Even if that means entering her father’s show business world, the world of
movie making, actors and celebrities. A world she blames for her mother’s
problems. A world she has avoided all of her life.What is your favorite
genre to read?It is difficult to pick just one, but if I had to I’d say contemporary
romance.Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?This one is easy though: Elizabeth Bennett. She’s feisty and strong
yet her vulnerability is universal. I love that she speaks her mind and still
gets the man.What are you working on at
the moment, and will see from you in coming months?My next book is due out in the first half of 2016 and is a
contemporary romance about a TV anchor woman who fears she’s reaching her
use-by date and finds herself both threatened and attracted to a new gun
foreign correspondent who becomes her offsider.Please tell us about your
latest book.Poppy Greenwood needs money fast. Her estranged
father, one of the most powerful men in Hollywood, has promised to help – on

Why did you write
this book?Last year, I was asked to participate in the Season of Magic
holiday anthology. It did really really well and when asked to participate
again, I said yes. But I wrote this particular story because of my love for
handbags, specifically Enid Collins bags. They are wonderful stenciled and
jeweled creations originally sold through Neiman Marcus. I love them. And
created my own brand with a design for this holiday story.What is your favorite
genre to read?I cut my teeth on mysteries like the Bobbsey Twins, Nancy
Drew and Trixie Belden; so I am a huge mystery fan. I also like contemporary
romance, especially with a touch of humor. And historical romances sweep me
away like a Calgon moment.Who is your favorite
character from fiction (not including your own)?I love wacky Stephanie Plum but mostly because Janet E.
writes stories with humor. When I finished my first one to read, Four to Score,
I fell in love with Janet E’s humor and said, “Finally.”What are you working
on at the moment, and will see from you in coming months?I’m doing edits on Temporarily Insane, a romantic comedy
mystery. AND yes, there will be another holiday anthology next year. Mine is
tentatively entitled The Littliest Angel. I have a great backstory to share. I
have a few more stories banked and I’m looking for a good spot for them.Please tell us about
your latest book.Season of
Surprises is a holiday anthology which features my romantic comedy short story,
“Holiday Handbag Extravaganza.” Here’s something to share about it: Christmas Countdown is on! Hunk-a-licious customer, Jack

He is very intelligent and able to think on his feet.What does he have a knack for doing?Mike is a great guy, but he has a knack of pissing people off. Before long, he has Darla’s brother and one of her fellow deputies ready to throw down with him.What is your character’s family like?Mike’s mother abandoned him at an early age to be brought up by his grandfather, who was a carpenter. He likes to work with his hands when not blowing up drug lords in Central America. He has no living family and immerses himself into his current assignment, whatever that might be. The ICE assignment, where he has to work with the local deputy, Darla Calhoun, shakes up his usual mode of operation. He tries to protect her, which just irks the daylights out of her, since she sees herself as a completely competent member of the team.Does this character see morality as black-and-white, or with shades of gray?Mike has a very definite sense of right and wrong. He sees himself as the defender of the weak and the one to apprehend the bad guys. There is no try. There is do or die.How do others perceive your character based upon looks? How true is this assumption?Darla’s brother, Calvin, a large, powerful man himself, describes Mike as “Big Mutha’.” Darla is very attracted to him, but also doesn’t want to get hurt when he moves on to his next assignment.What past event causes your character the most fear?Mike most definitely has abandonment issues, which he has dealt with in the past by not becoming too attached and by being the one to move on. However, for the first time, he sees himself settling down in this Texas coastal town and taking on a family, Darla and her twin sons.What is your hero’s biggest hopes and dreams?At the outset, his goal is to rescue the kidnapped women and destroy the human trafficking gang. But, seriously. . . just write them as they happen. Chloe and Rafael have hired me to update an old Victorian house that comes with its own set of mysteries, like the skeletons I dredge up in the murky fish pond.
