are your main characters’ names, ages, and occupations?Frankie, 25, is a chef…and a

Tell
us about your story’s world. What is it like in this period or place?This story is set in the modern every
day world. The only exception is there are witches — and who’s to say there
really arent? :) Most of the story is set in San Francisco
but one of our main characters, Frankie, is from Louisiana so some scenes are set there. The
second book in the series is going to be set exclusively in Louisiana.What
inspired you to write this book?I’ve always loved to cook (this
probably won’t be my last foray into the cooking world) but I thought it would
be a fun twist to have the chef be a kitchen witch. I’ve always loved that
character on the whole. Who better to tangle with a kitchen witch than a
restaurant critic who is dying to get out of his boring life? And there, a
story was born?When
you write, what things do you want close at hand? (Coffee, water, chocolate…
pictures of gorgeous hunks for inspiration…?)The less I have near me the better!! I
do like to have coffee or tea of course, but I concentrate the best if I don’t
have much else for my hands to do. Once I’m in a scene it flows quickly, but
it’s just getting there that’s a challenge if I give myself too many other
things to look at:)When
you’re not writing, what would we find you doing?Let’s see, I’m a music person, so I
spend a lot of time working out stress on my piano! I paint murals (all over my
house haha) and, I love to dance. I cook and am pretty addicted to cooking
shows. I love giada! Hopefully in the future, I’ll be traveling more when I’m
not writing. I love seeing new places.Any
advice for new authors?Keep writing! Your first story will
most likely have a lot of problems, I know mine did, but the more you write the
more natural it will feel.If you wouldn’t say it, don’t write it
either. Obviously character dialogue doesn’t fit in that rule, but read your
books aloud. If something sounds awkward, too formal, silly, or just not like
you, then get rid of it. You already have your own great voice. Just use it:)What
aspect of your life do you write into your books?Lots of it! Different things in
different books. I put my friends in books all the time (Jeana from The
Luckiest is actually my closest
friend, not Luka’s), I give the characters interests that I have sometimes, and
lots of speech mannerisms and jokes come from me without me even meaning to do
it.What
other jobs have you held besides writing?Not too many, actually. Right out of
college, I taught middle school reading for a few years. That was actually
pretty fun. But then my family opened a commercial painting company and I’m
still helping my family run the company when I’m not busy writing. I’ll be
happy when it’s time to let someone else step in there. Payroll isn’t one of my
best skills:)If
you could time travel what era would be your first stop?Ooooh Regency England. No doubt! I’ve been in
love with that era ever since I was a kid.Do
you believe in luck?Absolutely! Most luck is aided by hard
work, but there’s definitely an element of being in the right place at the
right time to most success stories:)What
kind of music do you listen to while driving? Same question when writing?I never listen to music when I write.
It’s way too distracting. But when I drive or paint etc. I listen to a lot of
stuff:) I’m from Seattle
so there’s the typical alternative stuff. I like about a million bands so I
won’t bore anyone. I have a not so secret boyband love affair too. When I was a
kid it was all about the Backstreet Boys, but I’ve been known to sing some One
Direction at the top of my lungs too:)Do
you play any musical instruments?Yep! I’ve played Piano the longest.
Since I was five:) after that, Flute since I was about nine, and I can play
clarinet, guitar, bass, and bassoon a little bit each.Please complete the sentence

What websites do you visit daily?I’m really trying to stay on top of all my author-related social media. I’m really excited to talk with readers and meeting fellow writers has been a blast. Aside from that, I check the weather at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration site and have a BBC America New App on my phone.What do you enjoy most about writing?You know how you always think of the perfect thing to say after it is too late to be useful? Writing is the solution.Seriously though, I love being able to find just the right words for my characters to say. I love that they get the chance to be wittier than I ever can be.If you could choose anyone to be your mentor who would it be?Jane Espenson. She’s a television writer and she is brilliant.Do things your family or friends do ever end up in a book?Absolutely. But I’m not allowed to say which parts. ;)
Mr Right What are some jobs you’ve done before (or while) you were a writer?I’m a teacher. I’ve taught Pre-K, fifth grade and tons of science and environmental camps. I’ve also been a shopgirl, a waitress, a research assistant, supervised storage units, worked the counter at Dunkin Donuts, cleaned at a construction site and led bird watching canoe tours.What kind of books do you read when taking a break from your own writing?I read a lot of Urban Fantasy and YA in addition to romance. In general though, I just love books. If a friend recommends it, I’ll give it a read.What do you think is the future of traditional publishing?I think e-books are only going to become more popular, though I do hope that physical books don’t disappear entirely, and the rise of e-books is a big opportunity for smaller publishers. I hope it means we get a wider variety of books, because the smaller publishers are a bit more open-minded.Imagine you get to go on a dream vacation, but you have only one hour to pack and leave, and it starts as soon as you finish this interview. What will you take with you and where will you go?I always find limiting the number of shoes I bring the most difficult part of packing and it would undoubtedly be this time too. But I’d settle upon a single pair each of boots, flats and heels. (It’s still too cold for sandals.) Then I’d toss in some jeans, tees, a couple of dresses, make-up, my kindle and a phone charger. Finally, I’d grab my husband and be off to London and Wales.What is your favorite holiday and why?I love giving presents, love the choosing of them and the wrapping, so I suppose I like Christmas best of all. decorating, and fencing. Now that I’m on extended vacation in your realm, I’ve
gotten hooked on IndyCar racing, too. My girl Katherine Legge isn’t competing
this year, so I’ve shifted all my loyalties onto that cutie pie, Ryan
Hunter-Reay. *waggles fingers* Hi Ryan.What else? I’ve been married to my childhood sweetheart,
Gunnar, for practically forever, and I’m totally head over heels for him. We
spend most of our time with our best friend, Ull, and when I’m not taking care
of those two I’m experimenting in the kitchen.Tell us about Ull.Ull is… well, he’s Ull. The tall, blonde and handsome god
all the girls swoon over, both back home and here in Midgard. Commanding voice,

his tan.What do you think is your strongest point?My baking, naturally. Though it should be noted my eyebrow
maintenance is unparalleled.What was it like where you grew up?Asgard’s gorgeous. Big rolling
meadows, lots of wildflowers, a willow tree with
actual silver leaves. Crystal blue ponds, the palace… you should visit
sometime. Spring’s best, the daffodils are blooming and they bring so much
color!What do you wish was different about your
life?Well, the whole Ragnarok prophecy kind of stinks. We’re all
fated to die at this epic battle in the not-too-distant future. So if I could
change one thing, I’d un-mark myself for death. But other than that, I’ve got a
pretty sweet deal. I’m married to a total dreamboat, we’re on an extended
vacation with our best friend in one of the prettiest realms, and now that we’re
here I can buy stuff without leaving my couch. Your whole Internet shopping
thing is fantastic!If you were given your fondest wish, what would
it be?That’s easy. I wish Ull would meet the perfect girl and
settle down. He’s been alone forever, and I know it’s hard for him. I really
want him to be happy.Also, I wish Ull’s grandma would give me her Norwegian
Waffle recipe. She is ridiculously stingy with that thing, and it’s so not
fair. A recipe that good is meant to be shared.**Describe a place of perfect refuge.My kitchen. Without any boys in it. Ull is notorious for
mutilating my high-end kitchenware. No, buddy, my new Shun Santoku is NOT what
you should be using to open that parcel…As a child, who was your best friend? Tell
us about him/her.Gunnar and I have been best friends since our first day of
primary. I schooled him in fencing, and he’s spent the rest of his life trying
to get back at me. I’m proud to say he has never, ever, outmaneuvered me in any
sword fight of any kind. Broad sword, rapier and dagger, you name it, I own him
in it. But he’s good with it. Gunnar’s got a seriously naughty sense of humor,
and a heart of gold. He’s one of Asgard’s top assassins, and he’s ranked #3 in
total kills, behind Ull and Thor. My husband is awesome.**Don’t tell Inga, but ST Bende does share the famous

Before finding domestic bliss in suburbia, ST Bende lived in
